DIY Christmas Snowman From Old Socks

What do you usually do to your old socks? Throw them? Donate them? Or make them into a sock doll like what I’m going to share with you here? Well, I hope make them into sock doll instead of just throw them away. As it is near Christmas, I made a DIY Christmas Snowman From Old Socks. It’s an easy sock doll because it’s a no-sew sock doll! It’s super cute too!

Things To Prepare

Gather all your old socks for this DIY Christmas Snowman. Choose colors that you favor for this year’s Christmas. Try to replace other materials with something similar to my materials if you don’t have the same one. Just use whatever you have at home like I do. Use more recycled things and use some scraps from previous projects. I guess that’s one of a best way to stay sustainable. Let’s see what are the list of supplies for this DIY Christmas Snowman From Old Socks :

  • Old socks ( Mine are white and blue stripes socks )
  • Googly eyes
  • Red yarn
  • Blue buttons
  • Scraps fabric as filler
  • Clear glue

How To Make

It’s an easy DIY Christmas project which fun to with the rest of the family. Make one or more is up to you, just make use of all your old socks and turn them into Christmas fun. Again, this is no-sew sock-doll. Anyway, follow these easy steps on how to do DIY Christmas Snowman From Old Socks :

1. I fill up the white sock with some scraps fabrics and old ugly socks to make a head shape and tummy shape of the snowman. You can use other fillers. Glue the bottom part of the snowman to conceal the end part of the sock by tuck it in.

2 . Cut the toe part of the blue stripes sock. Fold the end and glue it and use it as a hat to the snowman

3. Cut some of the blue stripes sock an use it as a scarf. Glue it around the neck of the snowman.

4. Now, glue a pair of googly eyes and some buttons on the tummy part.

5. for the nose part, I use a red yarn that I form it into a tiny ball and glue it as a nose. Done!

It’s not difficult to make as it is no-sew socks doll. It’s super cute and fun to make. How great it is to use those old socks and turn them into Christmas decoration.

This DIY Christmas Snowman From Old Socks project is my contribution to The Sustainable Craft Challenge Blog Hop hosted by Julie with her beautiful blog Sum of Their Stories. It’s a craft challenge with a sustainable principle behind it (upcycling, recycling, repurposing), which comes in different theme for every month. This month, the theme is “CHRISTMAS” and the last ten months (there is one month absent which is on July) were “TRADITION“, “NATURE“, “SUNSHINE“, “FRESH“, “FLOWER“, “SPRING“, “SOFT“, “LOVE” and “WARM“. I love to be part of this challenge as I love to upcycle things into something new, beautiful and useful.

DIY Christmas Decoration Under Budget

Christmas is just under a few weeks, how exciting! Christmas is fun although is stressful and takes a lot of daily budget. But, hey, we need something special for Christmas! Well, how about I share an under budget Christmas decoration you can do it by yourself? I promise you, it’s super easy to make. I have prepared a super easy DIY Christmas Decoration Under Budget, that anyone can make. This DIY Christmas project is involving upcycling fry pan and some seashells. Still have some doubts? Well, let’s just go through all the materials I use and how I easily made this under budget Christmas decoration.

Things To Prepare

An old fry pan would be easy to find at home. The washed fry pan is no good for cooking. It’s better to upcycle it into decoration. You can do a little touch up on the scratched parts by applying black marker on it. That would easily solve your problem. Without any further, let’s find out what were the supplies I used to make this DIY Christmas Decoration :

  • An old fry pan
  • Seashells
  • Gold paint
  • Gold and silver snowflake sequins
  • Gold glitter
  • Gold Glittered ribbon
  • Goldish chiffon ribbon
  • Hot glue
  • Fake snow I made from shredded polystyrene
  • UHU clear glue

How To Make

The best thing about this Christmas project besides it’s super cheap a.k.a under budget, and you get to upcycle your old fry pan; is you don’t need to do anything with your fry pan. Unless, your fry pan is not black, then you need to paint it black. Now, gather all the supplies I’ve mentioned above and follow these steps on how to make DIY Christmas Decoration :

1 . Make sure your fry pan is clean as you need a clean surface to glue everything on. It will not stick if the fry pan is dirty or greasy. Have your seashells cleaned too.

2 .Take your seashells and paint it with gold. Then sprinkle it with some gold glitter. Let it dry.

3. While waiting for the seashells to dry, you can tie two bows of ribbon. One is the gold glittered ribbon bow and the other is chiffon ribbon bow. Set aside.

4. Glue the gold seashells to form a Christmas tree by using UHU clear glue.

5. Apply some glue under the Christmas tree area and put some of the shredded polystyrene. If you have tiny foam balls is even better. I don’t have it at home so I used polystyrene and torn it into tiny pieces. I don’t think you need to rush to craft store for every material that you don’t have, you can replace it with similar thing you have at home instead.

6. Now, glue the gold and silver snowflakes around the Christmas tree.

7. The last part is to attach the chiffon bow and the gold glittered bow together on the fry pan. And it’s done!

How easy and cheap this Christmas decoration is. Just by using old sad fry pan and some cheap supplies, you can have a pretty Christmas decoration. I bet if you upcycle most of your Christmas decoration or use cheap materials, you can do Christmas under budget this year. You can check out my other Christmas DIYs that I did it under budget too. Happy Christmas crafting!

DIY Christmas Jar

Christmas is under a month, very exciting! Today, I have prepared a super easy DIY Christmas Jar that anyone can do. This DIY Christmas project is involving upcycling glass jar and some painting works. But, don’t worry, the painting job is insanely simple. Just stroke to the right and stroke to the left and you are going to nail it. You’re not going to paint a Christmas truck or some glowing Christmas balls; in the other hand, you are going to simply paint a humble Christmas tree in a super easy execution. Still have some doubts? Well, let’s just go through all the materials I use and how I easy made the Christmas Jar was.

Things To Prepare

A glass jar would be easy to find at home. Any size will do for this DIY Christmas jar. It depends on what is the purpose that you are going to give the Christmas jar for. If you want use it as a candy cane holder, then use a little tall one, instead of the short one. But if you want to hold a scented candle, it would be cute to use a wide short jar for it. Anyway, let’s find out what were the supplies I use to make this DIY Christmas Jar :

  • A glass jar
  • Red paint
  • White paint
  • Gold Ribbon
  • A gold reindeer topper or any other Christmas ornament

How To Make

Having a painting job for your DIY project doesn’t necessary have to be difficult. Look at my Christmas tree painting on this jar, it’s so simple. Just some rough strokes of white paint a small brush and I’m sure you’ll get it right. Try do it on a piece of paper first if you’re not that sure, nd once you got it, paint it on your Christmas jar. Now, gather all the supplies I’ve mentioned above and follow these steps on how to make DIY Christmas Jar :

1 . Make sure your glass jar is clean as you need a clean surface to paint with. It will not stick if the glass jar is dirty or greasy. Paint it in red and wait until it’s dry to proceed with the next step.

2 .Paint some big lines, effortless from top to 45 degree down, left and right over and over until you have odd pairs of strokes. It depends on how tall your jar is. Mine is 5 pairs of strokes. Use some white paint for the Christmas tree. Let it dry

3. Get a gold ribbon and tie it around the jar mouth. As a final touch, I added a little gold reindeer topper between the gold ribbon and the jar. Cute! And you’re done!

Only need three simply steps to do this Christmas jar. You can make couple of it or more and lie them up along your dinner table for Christmas dinner as the center pieces. And you can use it to hold anything you’d like to spice up your Christmas decor. Looks fun? It is fun and easy! Go get your kids to help you and spend some fun time making this DIY Christmas jar.
