How To Make A Modern Farmhouse Sign

You smitten with modern farmhouse style, but it’s difficult for you to make a decoration that reflects a farmhouse style because you’re not really clear of what it means by Modern Farmhouse Style. Here I have a modern farmhouse sign decoration that would explain it. A modern farmhouse it’s actually a mix of a modern style meets farmhouse style. A modern style is clean and sleek. And the easiest base color to show modern is white. In the other hand, farmhouse is more country or traditional, and often looking rustic. How can the two of them meets together? Of course through the simplicity of both style and practicality that modern and farmhouse is looking for.

Modern and farmhouse are both simple and practical, you can mix the farmhouse’s traditional and a little rustic look into a clean and sleek of modern. Like for example my simple clean white and sleek cut of garden sign meets the rustic hand painted framed lines. Humble words of “my garden” is also a mix of a laid-back farmhouse wording of “my” and a clean wording of “GARDEN”. So, basically I use modern canvas and painted it with farmhouse. Although this project is more to work on the styles, I will still share with you the simple technical tutorial on how to make a modern farmhouse sign.

Things To Prepare

Try to use anything you can find at home or things you can upcycle. A similar material will do to make this modern farmhouse “my garden” sign :

  • A white plank
  • Dark blue acrylic paint
  • Black marker

How To Make

By understanding the modern elements that you can mix together with farmhouse :

1 .Have a white plank to work as the Farmhouse sign. It can be any material. wooden, pvc, steel plate, anything. Cut the plank into your desired size, with rectangle shape.

2 .Next is to paint a very dark blue on the white plank by hand. Let it looked a bit rough on finishing, to get the rusty farmhouse charm. Let it dry.

3 .Write the words “My Garden” by using black marker. And you’re done!

Basically, once you understand what is farmhouse and what is modern style and how you combine the two styles to create modern farmhouse look, the rest is easy. Any modern farmhouse would be easy for you to make. If you like some farmhouse look, check out my DIY Farmhouse Upcycled Pot Holder.

4 .Take some white lace, glue it around both cardboard bunny ears. Then glue the pair of lacey bunny ears on the painted bunny head. Let it sit for a while until the glue is firm.

5 .Make a burlap ribbon mixed with white lace and tie up the ribbon with burlap rope.

How To Make Tin Can Mini Spring Flower Cart

Flower cart is always a wonderful thing to see, especially a vintage look flower cart. Moreover if the cart filled with beautiful spring flowers, that would be a magical sight to watch. Since I don’t have any material to build a full size flower cart; I ended up making a Mini Spring Flower Cart from upcycling a square tin can. I had this idea circling around my mind for months and finally I get a time to finish it.

Picture7

I made the Tin Can Mini Spring Flower Cart with trouble finding perfect things to create the cart handles and the wheels, because I insist to use things that physically resemble a handle and a wheel without changing it a bit. And also cheap and easy things to find. And luckily I found those things in a mini home depot; well, actually the bolt and nut is a pair that my husband always have; so the ring bolt that I found is the main treasure. I choose it because it’s looking very simple, just simply round. Okay, enough about my idealism, let’s start with how to make my flower cart!

Picture4

Things To Prepared

  • Tin can in square shape
  • Bolt and nut (two pairs) / any shapes that looks like a pair of cart handle can be used
  • Ring bolt, any ring shape will do
  • White acrylic paint
  • Blue acrylic paint
  • Black marker
  • Glue

Picture2

How To Make

  1. Clean the square tin can and paint it with white acrylic paint.
  2. Have the bolt + nut that will serve as the cart handle and the ring bolt as the cart wheels, sprayed in blue acrylic paint
  3. Drill a hole to insert the bolt, ended with nut and secure it with glue so it won’t move. Make a pair of it to get the cart handle.
  4. Glue the blue ring bolt to both of the side front of the flower cart.
  5. Prepare a beautiful hand writing of “Spring Flowers” and write it on the both sides of the tin can spring flower cart by using a black marker.
  6. Now your mini spring flower cart from upcycled tin can is ready to be added with lovely mini flowers. I used yellow and white Rose Moss.

Tips : You can use other mini flowers you like. The spring flower cart would look great with artificial flowers or as succulent mini pot holder too.

Picture1

Interested to do a little crafty upcycling project? My Mini Spring Flower Cart from tin can would be a wonderful idea to try. Add more of your handmade spring decorations to your home. Or maybe as a DIY Mother’s Day Gift for your mom. Enjoy picking flowers you love for the mini flower  cart, enjoy the spring bloom!

How To Make Mother’s Day Card From Scrap Fabric

Mother’s Day is near and  some of you may have prepared a lovely gift to your mom. If you haven’t prepare any gift to your beloved mom, but have been thinking of making a DIY present to give your mom on Mother’s Day; then you can check out my idea of DIY Mother’s Day gift. However, those with special gift in hand ready for your mom, you can get the inspiration of my easy Mother’s Day Card From Scrap Fabric. Like always, I share with you the tutorial on how to make the diy scrap fabric card.

Picture142

I made this very easy card by adding a fabric flower as the focal point of the Mother’s day card. I chose flower because I guess almost all moms love flowers, I know my mom does. And I finished it of  with simple sentiment; Happy Mother’s Day. This Mother’s Day card project is easy to make not just because it takes easy steps to make, but also easy supplies to find at home. I used the hardboard card from the old table calendar as a material for the card. So, basically the two main ingredients are recycling things. How do I make it possible? Check out below tutorial!

Things To Prepared

Take a look at your scrap fabric stash at home and find some pretty soft fabrics that would look great as fabric flower, then you are good to go. Very common things to be re-used to prepare this Mother’s Day Gifts best friend; a Mother’s Day Card.

  • Thick cardboard of the table calendar stand
  • Fabric scrap ( I chose pink shade with flowery pattern and a soft fabric )
  • White marker
  • UHU Glue

Picture140

How To Make

As simple as the supplies, the making of this Mother’s Day Card From Scrap Fabric is also very simple. It’s a no sew fabric project so this Mother’s Day Card for Mother’s Day is a super easy DIY. Your would only need glue to do this fabric card! Anyway, let me share how I make this scrap fabric mother’s Day card.

  1. Take an old table calendar and cut off the cardboard stand. I used a 5.5 x 8 inches cardboard as the card. My card is in black color which I think it’s a good contrast to the fabric flower.
  2. My fabric came from a sleeve of an old dress I’ve upcycled. So I cut the fabric in ring connected ribbon. Cut the scrap fabric into 4 different widths from the biggest to the smallest. It’s around 2.1 inches width to the smallest around 1 inch. I didn’t measure it when I cut it, I just used my proportion instinct.
  3. Apply some glue on the middle above card and glue the fabric into a wavy circle. do the same until the four fabric ribbon glued together. Remember to start from the biggest width fabric to the smallest. Let it dry.
  4. Now it’s time for the writing job. Write “Happy Mother’s Day” below the fabric flower on the card by using white marker. Let it dry.
  5. And you can write anything you’d like at the back of the Mother’s Day card.

Picture143

Tips : The card should contrast the fabric flower, so if the card is dark, use a light color fabric. And if your card is light color, use dark fabric. For black and white card, you can use any contrast color, but for other colors card, you should choose a same shade of the card and the fabric to get a best result. For example, dark blue card with a light blue fabric. Another thing is, you can substitute the scrap fabric with ribbon if you don’t have any scrap fabric.

A beautiful gift for your wonderful mom would be an unforgettable day to your mom if you pair it with an handmade Mother’s Day card. Very personal, loving gesture to be translated into this Mother’s Day Card From Scrap Fabric. Want to try? Good luck and add some creativity to it!

How To Make Fabric Easter Eggs

Easter is coming and some decorations are being prepared. But some handmade decorations would give a personal touch to your home decor. Let me share an inspiration for DIY Easter Eggs for Easter decorations. These Easter Eggs are from scrap fabrics I have. So, it’s a frugal project you may say.

The most important thing to make this Easter Eggs is to use soft fabrics and even that can see through. The pattern can be anything, I happened to have a black and white pattern that looks like the eggs had been drawn with ink. There’s no sewing involve, I just cut and glued the fabrics to some plastic eggs. Since, the eggs will be covered by the fabrics, you can re-use old eggs from last year that does not looking appealing anymore. So basiclly, you would only need some plastic eggs, fabrics and glue. I used UHU glue because it’s clear and not easily dry that quick, so it would give some time to adjust the fabrics according to the shape of the egg.

Picture97

Things To Prepared

You would only need three things for making Fabric Easter Eggs. I’m sure you would have these three things somewhere in your home. By using things or scraps from your home, you don’t need to take Covid-19 risk by leaving home to buy some craft supplies. So, here are the supplies you need:

  • Fabric (soft fabric would do great)

Picture94

How To Make

Easy and fast steps to make these Easter Eggs from fabrics that I would share with you here. Just follow these below tutorial with the pictures above!

  1. Clean your plastic eggs, make sure it’s smooth.
  2. If you use a soft see through fabrics, try to paint the eggs in white color, so you would have white background. But you can always choose other color as your background matching to the fabrics color. Since mine is black and white pattern, so I painted the eggs in white color in thin layer.
  3. Cut the fabric in a shape of oval according to the egg’s height. Cut into 3-4 ovals.
  4. Glue it one by one to the eggs by using clear UHU glue.
  5. Secure any loose fabrics and let it dry.

Easy card to make for your man on Valentine’s day, but with special different look!.

There are only two things to prepared for this Valentine’s Card for men, and those two supplies are:

  • Black card
  • Gold marker

Picture15

How To Make

Easy and quick steps to make this For Men – Valentine’s Cards, I made two designs.

  1. Cut a black card into a folded card with your desired size.
  2. Choose a simple design with a deep meaningful sentiment of a few words. It would be easier to be understood by a man. I drew a heart shape with big and small dots; followed by a sentiment “It’s forever” and another design is love bunting with a sentiment ” Be mine”. I wrote the sentiment in gold marker. It doesn’t have to be a perfect drawing or hand-writing, a handmade Valentine’s card would be more valuable than a bought card.

Black and gold colors are a perfect color for a grown men, birthday party, congratulations parties and including Valentine’s day for men. And a Valentine’s card in black and gold would impress a man and leave a special memory as it stand out from other usual pink card. Well, happy trying and I hope your man would love it!

How To Make Easy New Year’s Party Hat

New Year celebration is counting, four more days to New Year’s eve! How exciting! I’ve made magic wand as a New Year Wishing Wand for my kid to have fun with on New Year party. Now I need some New Year’s Party Hat! I made a sparkling and festive New Year’s hat which is so easy and super low budget. I used only sparkling pipe cleaner and confetti I’ve made myself from sparkling gold and red papers. You do not need expensive gem ornaments or gem stickers that would cost you more than diy confetti from sparkling papers.

Picture102

Things to Prepared

Basically you only need three materials to make this New Year’s Party Hat. These are my list to make my New Year’s hat :

  • Duplex card paper
  • Red and gold sparkling papers
  • Red and gold pipe cleaner
  • UHU Glue

Picture98

How To Make

  1. Make a full circle (around 16 inches diameter) to make two hats from duplex card paper. I used a big pot cover to make the circle, easier and fast. Cut it into two but before that, cut 2.5 inches to the left and right so it’s not exactly half circle.
  2. Glue the pipe cleaner on top and fold a little glue area of one side to be attached to another side.
  3. Glue the two sides together by using UHU glue and leave it dry. don’t forget to press the glued area tight to secure it.
  4. Form the pipe cleaner in your desired shapes. I got heart shape for the red one and gold pipe cleaner as a star.
  5. Make sparkling red and gold confetti from sparkling papers by using a paper puncher.
  6. Apply some glue in small area of the hat where you can attach the red confetti to red heart shape hat and gold confetti to the gold star shape hat. Attach it area per area and try to start from bottom with dense confetti and scattered to top. Finished! If you want to wear securely on your head, attach some elastic rope or band to your sparkling new year’s party hat!

Invite your kids to form the pipe cleaner and glue those confetti to the new year’s party hat to finish it quicker and have fun together. Be experimental with the pattern of the confetti on your party hat. It’s super easy new year’s party hat anyone can make. It’s easy to make, sparkling and festive for the New Year’s Eve Party! I’m sure kids and adults would love your sparkling New Year’s Party Hat. Looking glamour with easy to make New Year’s Party Hat, want to try?

How To Make Wishing Wand For New Year

It’s only a week until New Year’s Eve! How exciting it is! Kids and grown ups celebrating the new year of 2020. Good wishes is going to be a great hope on the night of the New Year. I too prepared a wishing wand for my kid to celebrate this new year. And I’m sharing with you on how to make the wishing wand for you to have fun on New Year’s Eve.

It’s an easy DIY, but the more complicated the wishing wand design you make, the more it takes time to do. I tried to make as simple but festive as I could. I choose gold and red color as the main color and a touch of blue. Those are the colors that look very attractive and festive for New Year.

Picture94

Things to Prepared

I used as cheap things as I could and try to make use of things that I already have on my stash. So I hope you can go creative with the materials that I used and try to substitute it with things that you do not need to buy. These are my list to make my New Year wishing wand :

  • Duplex card paper
  • Red and gold sparkling paper
  • Blue glitter dust
  • Silver ribbon
  • Balloon stick
  • Glass plastic
  • UHU Glue

Picture93

How To Make

Bring along your kids to make this wishing wand and maybe make more than one wishing wand to have fun with on New Year’s Eve. But, please let me share first on how I made the wishing wand.

  1. Cut two star shapes out of the duplex card paper.
  2. Cover one side of each star with red and gold sparkling paper and leave the white side alone.
  3. Cut the gold star on the inner to form a frame of star.
  4. Glue star shape glass plastic to the back of gold frame star.
  5. Fold the red and gold sparkling left over papers, glue it and use it to make the confetti by using a paper puncher.
  6. Use the gold card from cutting the gold star frame remain to make three little stars.
  7. Glue the three little stars each to a silver ribbon.
  8. Cover the balloon stick with silver ribbon by whirling it around the stick and secure it with UHU.
  9. Apply glue along the frame of the star and put the balloon stick together with the three ribbon with little stars on the bottom, altogether and press it hard until it secure. But remember to leave the top of the star open to fill in the confetti and glitter dust. And don’t fill it too full, leave some space for shaking purpose.
  10. Secure the top of the star and let it dry. Your wishing wand is ready for New Year celebration. Shake shake your wand and make a wish!

Well, hope you enjoy making the wishing wand with your kids, nieces, nephews and grand kids and be ready for 2020 New year celebration!

How To Make Unique Thanksgiving Pumpkin Sign

Sometimes we’re tired of the same circle wreaths or square signs to be hung on our door or wall. For that,  I made something different, an unique pumpkin sign for coming Thanksgiving. It’s made from cardboard, so it doesn’t cost you much but if you already have wooden pumpkin shape, you can use it too. I shared with you how to make this unique yet simple Thanksgiving Pumpkin sign.

Picture26

Things To Prepared

There are a few things to prepared, if you are a crafter, I’m sure you have all the ingredients I used for this unique Thanksgiving pumpkin sign.

  • Cardboard
  • Burlap rope
  • Watercolors ( white, blue, green)
  • Green flannel
  • UHU Glue
  • Black marker

Picture25

How To Make

You can always replace the cardboard pumpkins with wooden pumpkin, but that’s not too frugal, isn’t it? Well, here I shared with you some easy steps to make my Thanksgiving sign looks unique.

  1. Take a cardboard and cut 4 pumpkin shapes in 2 sizes.
  2. Paint the cardboard pumpkin , one for each size with white paint for base.
  3. Paint the white pumpkin cardboard with blue and green and white watercolors. Leave dry. This process will need a little skill in painting.
  4. Cut green flannel for 5 leaves shape.
  5. Use burlap rope to connect the big pumpkin and the small pumpkin.
  6. Glue the painted big blue pumpkin together with the rope to its other big cardboard pumpkin to make a sandwich.
  7. Do the same to the small pumpkin and use the other end of the burlap rope. Let it dry.
  8. Glue the flannel leaves to the pumpkins and the burlap rope by using UHU glue to have a better result.
  9. Write the word “be” on the small blue painted pumpkin and the word “thankful” to the big cardboard pumpkin by using a black marker.
  10. Hang the unique pumpkin sign on your wall or door for Thanksgiving decor.

Picture29

Do you have some cardboard laying around your storage room? Well, it’s time to upcycle them into a cheap but unique Thanksgiving decoration.
