DIY Candle Holder For Fall Decor

Gold color for fall is the best color to me; it looks sophisticated and classy. And this project is to upcycling my old mug into something classy gold. Yes, it’s a gold candle holder for fall decor! It’s super easy and quick to make. the key to get the nicest look for this mug – candle holder is to use an unique shape mug. My mug is unique to me because it has contoured shape, it has texture. And it looks great with painted in gold because the contour reflects the gold color more than a plain shape. That is why I save this old mug which I don’t use it anymore as it has some hairline cracks on the inner surface. Since, fall is coming, this gold candle holder would be a great addition to fall decoration collection. Scroll down to see how I made it!

Things To Prepare

You can always be creative with things that you have at home. You can replace things I use with things that you have at home. Find similar things that look like things that I use is the key. LIke for example, you can use a can mug instead of ceramic mug like mine. Anyway, let’s go straight to my list of supplies. Here is the list of supplies to make my DIY Candle Holder For Fall Decor :

  • Old mug
  • Gold spray paint
  • Old bronze mini candle holder
  • Silicone glue

How To Make

It is super easy to make, it’s only took some painting and gluing works. And the more unique your old mug is, the more beautiful your candle holder will be. To be clearer, let’s just go to the tutorial on how to make my DIY Candle Holder For Fall Decor :

1 .Clean the old mug and the old bronze mini candle holder; make sure it’s really clean for good painting result.

2 .Spray gold paint to the old mug evenly. Let it dry.

3 Glue the gold painted mug into the bronze mini candle holder by using silicone glue. Let it dry and firm. Done! as simple as that!

Now, the gold candle holder will be ready as my fall decoration. Put it together with other fall decorations to style your mantel, or dining table or even your kitchen table. I put together the gold fall candle holder together with my fall gold acorn and my white popsicle sticks pumpkin. It looks nice altogether. Well then, find your most unique mug and turn it into a nice fall candle holder like mine for your coming fall decor!

Fall Leaf In Watercolor Shades – Quote Painting

It’s September and Fall is on it’s way. Leaves are falling and new beginning is calling. To welcoming Fall season, I’ve painted a maple leaf in watercolor fall shades. When I think of fall, I think of maple leaf. Maple leaf is so pretty with its distinguish shape and its changing colors.

I painted the maple leaf in fall colors. I also added a quote “Fall; leaves are falling and new beginning is calling”. It’s a great fall quote painting for your inspiration. Many creations can be creatively created from this piece of fall leaf quote painting.

Picture61

I started with a thin pencil sketch of a maple leaf. I prepared six colors that representing fall. The six colors are; in painted order :

  1. Burnt Sienna watercolor
  2. Crimson watercolor
  3. Vermilion watercolor
  4. Yellow Ochre watercolor
  5. Lemon Yelow watercolor
  6. Gold poster color

Picture63

I used gold poster color because I don’t have gold watercolor. So, it’s not a certain thing to follow. I love gold leaf look which makes Fall perform in more glamorous way. Like I have mentioned before, this fall leaf quote painting in watercolor shades can be an inspiration to create other creative form to welcome Fall season.

Autumn Painting Of Maple Tree

Autumn Painting Of Maple Tree

Inspired by maple trees with the red and gold colors of the autumn season, I painted a maple tree with the swirl of golden-yellow background. I think this painting is more like a modern abstract, if I’m not mistaken because I have never been in an art school. I just paint whatever comes in my mind.

Picture50

I love painting, but I need at least two whole days to finish a simple painting. And two whole days means I ask a lot from my daily routine 🙂 That’s why I don’t do a lot of painting even though there are many ideas and objects that have already taken lines in my mind. So, every time I have a time to paint and able to finish it, I’m very pleased!

Picture52

Actually I have been postponed this autumn painting of maple tree for a month. I was very busy and unable to paint something more complicated. So, this maple tree painting is quite simple and fast in its process.

This was the first time I used acrylic paint on a canvas. I found it a lot easier to use acrylic instead of oil paint because acrylic paint dries faster than oil paint. So, the painting process is a lot faster which was good for my busy days. Just for information, I used acrylic colors of Vermilion, Yellow Ochre, lemon yellow, gold, titanium white, crimson, burnt umber.

Picture53

I have now a need addition to my autumn decoration and painting collections. I hope all of you who drop by to peak and read my post enjoys this Autumn Painting Of Maple Tree. May you be inspired too by this golden-yellow and red maple tree painting  of autumn season spirit and create something in your own creations.

See you soon!

Creative Autumn Spirit!

DIY Pumpkins Halloween Sign – Trick Or Treat

DIY Pumpkins Halloween Sign – Trick Or Treat

Halloween decor would not be perfect without the halloween sign. Therefor, I came across the idea to use ice sticks again as the sign board like I did last time with DIY Fall (in love) Sign. I love the texture that created from the row of the popsicle sticks. I looks great with spray paint, especially white as a sign board base. For the design of the halloween sign, I drew some pumpkins in black, white and orange with the halloween signature sentiment, which is “trick or treat”.

It’s a simple project that only used a little skill of painting, but you can always trick the painting part by using stamps, printing and decoupage. The key to great picture plus sentiment sign board is the sentiment itself and how to present it, the colors, and the interesting object / picture that we want to exposed. Choose the style, the colors, the sentiment and the picture, then you are good to go.

So what did I prepare for my trick or treat pumpkins halloween sign?

  • Ice sticks
  • Glue
  • White spray paint
  • Black acrylic paint
  • White acrylic paint
  • Orange acrylic paint
  • Paint brush
  • Pencil

Picture43

It’s mostly a painting job I should say. So, the steps to do it are basically painting, except for the sign board base;

  1. Line up the ice sticks vertically with the length of around 3 x one ice stick length.
  2. Glue some structure ice sticks to the ice sticks – row in horizontal like making a fence. Let it dry.
  3. Spray paint the ice sticks blank sign with white spray paint. Let it dry.
  4. Draw a sketch of the sentiment and the three pumpkins with pencil.
  5. Paint the first bottom pumpkin with black, then the second with orange and the third with white and some silly pumpkin face. Add some shading to elevate the pumpkins’ look. Don’t forget the leaves.
  6. Paint the sentiment “Trick or Treat” with black acrylic paint. Let it dry.
  7. The Halloween Pumpkins Sign with the wording of Trick or Treat is finished!

Picture44

Inspired to try out your own halloween sign? Gather all your crafting tools and start creating a halloween sign yourself. Have a fun creating and enjoy some treats while you making it!

See you soon!

DIY Fall Leaves Painted Bottles Set In White And Gold

DIY Fall Leaves Painted Bottles Set In White And Gold

I have been keeping bunch of bottles from drinks, oil and etc. Wished that I could do something nice to them. Until now I got the mood to paint small bottles that I got from vitamin C drink. These are small bottles, so I made it into set of three painted bottles. Since now is time to welcome the fall season, I thought I could give some inspiring diy fall painted bottles that can be used as for flower vases or just decorations.

When I think of fall, I mostly think of leaves, all the falling leaves with different shapes and colors. And when you see it from the distance, you can see shimmering gold everywhere and it’s so beautiful. That is why I chose to paint the bottles in white and gold with three different shapes of leaves.

What do you need to do this fall leaves painted bottles set and how to make it in white and gold? Well, you need :

  • Three small glass bottles (choose used bottles, save money!)
  • White spray paint
  • Gold Acrylic paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Organic rope

I was starting with:

  1. Clean the used bottles and dry it thoroughly.
  2. Spray paint the three bottles with white paint. Let it dry.
  3. Sketch each bottle with the desired leaf shape by using pencil.
  4. Paint the leaves carefully in three bottles with gold acrylic paint. Let it dry.
  5. The bottles that I used has texture around the bottom of it, so painted the texture too in gold acrylic to make it pop and add more character. Let it dry.
  6. Tie each bottle with organic rope to give an earthy feeling of fall season.
  7. Your set of fall leaves painted bottles in white and gold is ready!
  8. Get some yellow or orange chrysantemum or gerbera or any other single flower that you like and put one to each bottle and you can use the set as fall centerpiece. I was looking for yellow or orange gerbera but I can only found chrysantemum, so that’s it.

It is so simple, does not take too much work and cheap. It’s a great diy of short time preparation for fall decorations. It’s great for fall centerpiece with sophisticated white and gold if you have dinner party in this upcoming autumn season.
