DIY Pinecone for Fall

This September Challenge Theme is Nature! I love to upcycle things, give them a brand new life and turn them into something beautiful and useful. This time I get my idea from my own previous project. I turned something from nature as a decoration, which was pistachios shells into DIY Gold Acorn for Fall decor. Now, the project was DIY Pinecone for Fall which made out of seashells. But before I move on, let me explain a bit about The Sustainable Pinterest Challenge.

The Pinterest Challenge has had a bit of a reboot for 2022 and is now the Sustainable Pinterest Challenge. Each month I join a group of creative bloggers and we select a pin or two that we feel inspired by and give it a go. Starting in January 2022 the Pinterest Challenge has a sustainable, eco friendly twist to it. All the projects shared will have something about them that involves recycling, upcycling, a general ethos of reducing waste and using what we have. It’s not about beating ourselves with a stick, it’s just about giving thought to how we can make small changes in our lives just a little more sustainable and reduce our impact on the environment.

Last month’s theme challenge was “Upcycle” and I made an DIY Upcycled Bookshelf Bench. For this month theme “Nature” as sustainable as a base to any of our challenge projects, I took seashells from nature and made it into pinecones for Fall theme decor.

DIY Fall Gold Seashell Holder

I still stick to my gold theme for fall decorations. This time the gold fall is presented for coastal decor. Some of you may have coastal living which is bounded very close to summer beachy style. However, you may put a little twist that can change the strong coastal feeling on summer to fall ambience; and without eliminating the seaside style of your coastal home. I made a fall decoration of a gold seashell bowl. It’s a multipurpose seashell bowl you can use for holding anything you want; maybe some keys, jewelry, a planter or just simply as it is, an element of fall decor.

It is a simple diy project but the gold seashell bowl does look fantastic to match your coastal fall decor. Since the fall seashell bowl has a simple look, it does apply to the making too, very easy and quick to make. Follow my tutorial and I’m sure you can make one for yourself.

Things To Prepare

You can buy seashells on any craft shop or you may have some stash of seashells like I do. I always collect any seashells whenever I have shellfish menu at home. Just wash it and dry it; and you can keep the seashells for a long time. Anyway, let’s go straight to my list of supplies. Here is the list of supplies to make my DIY Fall Gold Seashells Holder :

  • Seashells
  • Gold spray paint
  • Plastic bowl (you can use any bowl or pot that you like)
  • Hot glue

How To Make

I’ve been wanted to make a seashells holder since forever. I like the pattern from the overlapping seashells. I actually love both natural and painted look of the seashells. But for the sake of my fall theme, I chose gold painted seashells. Anyway, it’s super easy to make, just follow my steps and you’ll make it. To be clearer, let’s just go to the tutorial on how to make my DIY Fall Gold Seashell Holder :

1 .Clean the seashells and try to separate small to bigger seashells in group. You will need this grouping to get a better proportion look.

2 Glue the seashells one by one from the top of the bowl. Use the smallest group of seashells first, then you can continue it to the bigger and bigger seashells. Glue them by using hot glue gun and arrange them in bond pattern. That way, all the bowl surface will be covered by seashells and the look will be fabulous; like a blooming flower.

3 .Spray gold paint to the seashell bowl evenly. leave it to dry. And you’re done!

This gold seashell holder is added to my fall decoration. Use it for any purpose, from multi-purpose holder, planter to a plain decoration bowl. It would also look great if you put it together with other fall decorations to style your mantel, dining table or even your kitchen table. I’ve made my gold seashell holder, so maybe now it’s your turn to try making your own seashell bowl for fall decor!

DIY Fall Upcycled Gold Tray

This fall or my friends at UK call it autumn; I made more gold fall decorations. I love the fancy look of a gold decoration. Gold color elevates your room decor, the ambience and make a great focal point. Don’t be afraid to use a little gold on your room, just don’t use it too much; less is more. I always believe in that. Anyway, my DIY Fall project this time is an upcycled gold tray that I made from a biscuit can. Let’s check out how I made this simple gold tray.

This simple fall DIY upcycled gold tray is like a plain canvas that you can use to be paired it with many fall ornaments or even non-related fall season’s ornament at all. So, it’s a great diy decoration you can use in any season as long as you have a dash of gold in your room decor theme. Use it to hold a vase, use it to hold some succulents, use it to hold some fake metal fruits, or use it to hold some pine cones or acorns for a fall decor like I did on the picture; where I used my gold acorn made of pistachio’s shells.

Things To Prepare

I love the idea of simple DIYs, simple means easy to find materials; preferred upcycled materials, not using many kind of materials and inexpensive materials. And so does this DIY Upcycled Gold Tray for Fall, it’s a simple and easy to make. Here are a very short list of supplies that you need to prepare to make this Gold Tray:

  • Biscuit tin can (round shape)
  • Gold spray paint
  • White spray paint
  • Pipe holder (small size) The pipe holder size is following the tin can size to get a good proportion between the tray and the tray holder.
  • Instant glue ( or you can also use silicone glue)

How To Make

A simple DIY also means it’s super easy and quick to make. Same as this upcycled gold tray, these are the super short list of steps to make it :

  1. Clean a round shape of biscuit can and spray paint the inner side with white spray paint.
  2. take a pair of small metal pipe holder and glue it to both sides of the biscuit can. Wait until it’s dry.
  3. Once the glue has dried, spray paint it with gold color evenly. Let it dry completely. And you finish!

This gold tray is great to sit on your coffee table or a corner table. You can make a big size, medium or small depends of how big your biscuit can is. Just be creative with the look, if you prefer more is more, you can add decorative ornaments on the gold tray, just use your creativity. Whereas I like my DIY Fall Upcycled Gold Tray stay simple.

DIY Pumpkin Shabby Lace – No Sew

Pumpkin is a must ornaments on Fall decor. This time I made an unusual look of a pumpkin. I presented the pumpkin in shabby look by using lace to make the white pumpkin. I think it’s going to look good if you put it together with real white pumpkins. Maybe some of you are fond of white fall decor, then this DIY Pumpkin Shabby Lace would a great Fall DIY without sewing to make. In that case, let’s find out all the materials I used and what are the simple steps to make my shabby white pumpkin in lace.

Things To Prepare

It is a super simple Fall DIY to make and no sewing is needed. Here are the short list of supplies you will be needed to make a DIY Pumpkin Shabby Lace with No Sew :

  • White lace
  • White flannel
  • Pink checkboard ribbon
  • Pink flower ornament
  • Baby pink paper straw
  • UHU glue

How To Make

Fabric project without sewing is super easy and takes a little time to do. Just like my DIY lacey pumpkin. It’s all gluing job, I’m sure you can even ask your daughters to participate. By the way, these are the easy steps to make DIY Pumpkin Shabby Lace with No Sew :

  1. Cut a white flannel into 5 circles from the biggest to the smallest with your desired size. Mine was around 4 inches (10 cm) as the biggest and 2 inches (5 cm) as the smallest.
  2. Glue the lace around each of the flannel circle.
  3. When you finished making the wavy lace around the flannel circles, cut a hole on each lacey circle in the middle by making a plus shape cut. This cut is to allow each lace circle inserted through the paper straw. The paper straw will serve as the structure and the pumpkin stalk. Every time you insert each lacey circle, secure it with glue.
  4. Another thing is, the smallest lace circle is to have a double lace . This is to cover the last flannel circle with lace.
  5. Tie a pink checkboard ribbon and finish it with pink flower ornament by using glue. That’s it, your lace fall pumpkin is finished.

A Fall pumpkin in lacey look would be a new fresh fall decoration or a centerpiece for a fall wedding which you would be easy to make in large amount because it’s so simple to make. And the lace is just scream for wedding! It would look amazing too if you put it together with real white pumpkins in different sizes. Why don’t you give it a try?

DIY Fall Upcycled Jar Gold Vase

Fall decoration I like is usually in white and gold colors. Therefor I make most of my Fall DIYs in gold and white theme. Like this project I just made; it’s a DIY Fall Upcycled Jar Gold Vase. A gold vase made from used mason jar or just regular glass jar. Or you can say a painted mason jar vase. This gold vase with stripes accent is super easy to make, but look at the result, it’s totally brings up the plain glass jar into a different look!

I played a little bit with the colors and pattern on this Fall gold vase. I mixed gold with black and white touch of colors and presented it in stripes pattern look. I also tried to be more creative with sizes of the stripes, so it would not be looking bored. Well, let’s just find out more on supplies that I have to prepare for this Fall DIY and how the simple steps were.

Things To Prepare

This is super inexpensive Fall DIY to make, upcycling used mason jar and some paint and you are ready to start this Fall project. Here are the short list of supplies you will be needed to make a DIY Fall Upcycled Jar Gold Vase :

  • Glass Jar / Mason Jar
  • White acrylic paint
  • Gold acrylic paint
  • Black acrylic paint
  • Black marker

How To Make

I mixed the process of painting between spray painting and hand painting. If you have steady hands, you can follow my way, but if you hesitate, use a paper tape to mark the line for painting the stripes. Anyway, these are the easy steps to make DIY Fall Upcycled Jar Gold Vase in stripes :

  1. Make sure the glass / mason jar is clean and free from oil or debris. Then spray paint the jar with gold paint. leave it to dry.
  2. Paint the bottom side with black acrylic paint. You can use paper tape to mark the border line so you will get a straight result. Let it dry before you continue with the white paint.
  3. Paint the next stripe with white acrylic paint. Use a paper tape to watch out for the border lines, above and below. Or you can paint it with steady hand without using any border tape.
  4. The finished stripe is a thin black stripe which I used a black marker to do it. It’s a lot easier for me that way. But you can use paper tape as the stencil and hand painted it with black. That’s it!

Tips : Make sure when you paint by using spray paint; you spray the object in swiping movement, not spray in one spot. By doing the swiping move, the spray paint will evenly cover the object nicely. And keep changing the different sides of the object for more spray until all surface is covered evenly by the paint. But if you spray in spots, usually the sprayed paint will drip and thick looking in spots which will look bad in result.

A Fall gold vase which is so easy and quick to make. This stripes gold vase is great for last minute fall decoration or a centerpiece for a fall wedding which you would be easy to make in large amount because it’s so simple to make. Add some white flowers and the fall gold vase would look amazing for your fall home decor. Let’s give it a try!

DIY Fall Gold Acorn

Fall is coming soon, many of you are preparing new decorations to spice things up at home. And for those who love to personalized your own decorations, I may have an idea for your Fall DIYs plan. I made an acorn in gold and reconstructive look. I just love the color gold for fall. It’s an easy DIY fall and simple material to used, even recycled material as one of the main supply for this DIY acorn.

My DIY Fall Gold Acorn is one of a different way to present an acorn. It’s a faux acorn that I made from plastic egg and pistachio’s shells. Quick and easy to make, also inexpensive, that is what I love for a seasonal diy decorations. And for this fall gold acorn, you can use it from year to year because acorn is one of the symbol of the fall and you can easily mix it with other ornaments of decorations. The gold acorn can be used as a main star or as a complimentary ornament; it’s up to you to arrange it.

Things To Prepare

I still have some plastic eggs from last Easter and some pistachio’s shells from my Pistachio’s Shells Sunflower project. So, I didn’t need to buy new supplies for this Fall project. I guess, some of you may have the same supplies as mine, and that would be easier for you to follow my tutorial right away. These are the complete list of supplies you will be needed to make a fall gold acorn:

  • Plastic egg
  • Pistachio’s shells
  • Gold paint
  • Wooden stick
  • Hot glue

How To Make

The great thing about this pistachio’s shells acorn is that it’s so easy to make and inexpensive for you to make in large amount. So, gather all your supplies I have mentioned before and let’s start to make a gold acorn from pistachio’s shells. And these are the easy steps to make DIY Fall Gold Acorn :

  1. Start with choosing pistachio’s shells and separate them in sizes. Take the bigger size group of pistachio’s shells and glue it one by one onto the plastic egg by using hot glue. Position the shells around the middle of the egg and the bigger part of the egg that will be fully covered by pistachio’s shells.
  2. Continue to glue pistachio’s shells one by one, row by row all the way up to the top of the egg. And while the glue is still hot and melt, insert a small wooden stick in the middle top. It would look like a stalk. Let it dry before you move on to painting work.
  3. Use a gold spray paint and spray it evenly to the pistachio’s shells acorn. Wait until it’s dried. Finished!

Yes, this gold acorn is as easy as that! Quick and simple to make, so you can make lots of them and have it to decorate your home for this fall. You can put them on your mantel, your dining table for fall tablescape, living room table, kitchen top or use it to make a fall wreath. Anything, anywhere in other colors too! You can paint the pistachio’s shells acorn in white, blue or other colors you favor. Wait no more and give it a try!

DIY Upcycling Gold Floating Pots

It’s September! Fall 2020 is coming and it’s a transition time from summer to fall. Fall decor becomes your top search to get some inspiration for the season. And I have my easy DIY Upcycling Gold Floating Pots as one of an idea for a frugal fall decoration among of many of my Fall decoration collections you can check out. It’s an easy fall DIY with an unique look and also an upcycling tin can project. Let’s learn more about the process of how to make this twin golden pots from tin cans.

It’s a super easy and quick DIY for Fall decor. And it’s super cheap too, considered it’s an upcycled DIY fall project. I chose gold as the main look to represent the glimmering gold of fall color. And some aloe vera as the decorative plant which also a great indoor plant with all its benefits. And for the finishes, I used some small white gravel to give the sleek look. Anyway, let’s find out the main material for my Fall Upcycling Gold Floating Pots and the making steps.

Things To Prepare

I like working with tin cans, because there are tons of ideas to upcycled it into something useful and yet pretty. So, the tin can is the main star for this fall DIY. Here are the list of supplies you will be needed to make my DIY Upcycled Gold Floating Pots:

  • Used tin can
  • Gold acrylic spray paint
  • Pipe holder
  • Glass silicone glue or you can use metal glue

How To Make

It only took me three simple steps to make this DIY Upcycled Gold Floating Pots. After you have done with it, you can decorate it with some fake plants or candle or some scented pine cones or whatever that express autumn. So, here are the easy steps to make my DIY Fall gold pots :

  1. Clean the tin can and make sure there is no grease on the surface is left. Paint the tin can with gold spray paint. Leave it dry.
  2. Paint the pipe holder with gold paint too and leave it dry.
  3. Apply some glue to each golden tin can and put it all together with the golden pipe holder, just like in the picture. Let the glue harden and firm. Finished!

Super easy Fall DIY yes indeed! I guess you would easily follow my tutorial and have your own Upcycled Gold Floating Pots. I like the modern and sophisticated look of the twin golden pots, it’s all thanks to the gold finish and the hanging pots supported by the pipe holder. DIY Fall Rustic Letters – Upcycling Cardboard

This is another diy cardboard project I made lately. Before this I made a cardboard fall maple tree and white maple tree. And this time, I did a set of FALL letters in a rustic look. I did not do any finishing, I only added decoration to each letters.

Picture89

Things To Prepare

Very easy diy fall project, of course only takes you less material to make. Here are what you need to have:

  • Cardboard
  • Cotton rope
  • Flannel (color: green, dark green, orange and coffee)
  • Glue

Picture87

How To Make

  1. Draw each of the letter of FALL on the cardboard, keep the same height for each letter. Prepare it in rectangle of four or five sets per letter.
  2.  Glue and stack up the four or five sets of  drawn cardboard of each letter. Don’t forget to stack the drawn letter on top for guidance. Leave it dry.
  3. Cut the drawn letter on the stacked cardboard. Do it to all four FALL letters. Make sure the bottom surface is flat and steady enough for the letter to stand.
  4. Cut each color flannel with a leaf shape.
  5. Use cotton rope to wrap a small part of each cardboard letter and tie it together with the flannel leaf. Finished!

Picture90

Easy, no need any painting job and cheap diy for your fall decor inspiration. A rustic fall decoration of cardboard letters is just great upcycling project. You can be creative with the shape of the letters and the decorations. Be creative and happy trying!

DIY Fall White Maple Tree

Couple of days ago I made a fall maple tree out of a cardboard. I painted it with fall colors of a real maple tree. Then I thought to my self, why don’t I paint the other side of the cardboard maple tree with clean white. A different look from real fall colors maple tree to modern minimalist maple tree. I added the word fall to give a contrast, white against black. So this maple tree become two sided decoration with two different style to match your fall theme.

Easy steps to turn cardboard into a pretty fall maple tree decoration are:

  1. Draw different shapes of the maple tree on cardboard and then cut it. Make 7 sheets, less or more sheets depend on the thickness of the cardboard you have. Make it thick enough to be able to stand.
  2. Glue all sheets together to form a fall maple tree that able to stand. Let it dry.

DIY Fall Sparkle Maple Leaf Decoration

One of the best feature of Fall is the sparkle golden look of maple trees. The fall colors that come together makes it looked amazing. I try to imitate the fall leaf colors on a maple leaf. I made a super easy DIY fall of sparkle maple leaf for my fall decoration from simply gems stickers.

Picture103

Last time I have painted a quote painting of Fall leaf and I still inspired to do a fall maple leaf in different way and look. Therefore, I thought of doing an easy fall leaf diy that anyone can do by using gems stickers. It’s an easy fall diy anyone can follow, no need drawing or painting skill but the result is something you can proudly display anywhere in your home.

Picture104

Things To Prepare

Well, let’s see what do you need to prepare to make this easy fall diy sparkle maple leaf decoration :

  • Gems stickers ( shades of gold, brown, and silver)
  • Balsa sticks for the frame
  • Acrylic paint in white
  • Wood plank (I used the back of my Hello Fall Sign, so it became two sided fall decoration)
  • Glue

Picture99

How To Make

This is actually a two sided Fall decoration; I used the back of my previous Fall sign project. How to make this easy fall diy from gem stickers? Let me explain the sparkle maple leaf decoration process in step to step, below:

  1. I painted the wood panel with white acrylic paint. Leave it dry.
  2. Cut and glue the balsa sticks which serve as the frame. Let it dry. You can also use ready-to-use frame decoration you can find at craft store.
  3. Sketch or trace a maple leaf on the framed painted panel with a pencil.
  4. Stick the gems stickers on the leaf inner line. Combine all shapes and colors of fall to create the maple leaf into a sparkling gold colors of fall. This is where your creativity take control. Finished!!!

Picture101

Super easy and fun Fall DIY, am I right? You can even ask your daughter and grand daughter to help you with sticking the gems stickers part; I’m sure they would love to take part. Perfect quick Fall DIY to celebrate Fall. You can place this sparkle maple leaf fall decoration anywhere in your home to match your Fall theme decor.
