Happiness Is Homemade Link Party – Inspired by Fall

Happy Halloween! What a fun month, Welcome to Happiness is Homemade and we are more than ready For October. This week a little reflection on the fact it is 451 parties, holy moly. Interesting fact, when this link up first started, they had guest hosts selected from among those who linked up.

So shamless plug, we are a great bunch to party with if you want to join our little hosting group.

All the other months my amazing co-hosts share their favs. This month, A Labour of Life gets to share her love of Fall, Canadian Thanksgiving and Halloween, for this Canadian it is an amazing time of year.

Celebration of Fall

This week, a really wanted a return back to all things Fall, but y’all are killing me with all the fun Halloween crafts and ideas. t spooky Halloween. I am back to my standard recipe, food, sips, and fun.

First up is the cutest Festive Fall Outdoor Tablescape from Pure Happy Home. This gorgeous tablescape just got my eye and instantly switched my theme to a pure Fall celebration. I love the fact that she found the table for 20.00 and had her boys refinish it, a true family experience happening here.

Fall Porch Sign

Next up from Cloches and Lavendar is a stunning DIY Porch Sign.  This easy DIY method for how to make a fun porch sign, plus as a bonus she is sharing fun porch decor ideas at the same time.

Dinner with Pumpkins

Next up is dinner of course. Can it really be Fall without a taste of Pumpkin? Well Create Kids Club has shared the tastiest Fall soup, Crockpot Pumpkin Soup. I have pinned this recipe, perfect for those cool nights we are about to have. This crockpot pumpkin soup is packed with beans, tomatoes, and pumpkin which blends in deliciously. It’s a filling meatless meal that cooks all day and is ready for dinner whenever you are! Gluten-free.

Mini Dining Options for Fall

Normally I would be sharing a seasonal drink, aka fun cocktail but this week the dinner options just caught my eyes. Sharing the “funest” dinner idea, mini meatloaves from The Big Green House. Not only healthy and tasty but the presentation is perfect. Plus what an awesome way to make meatlof pretty as a picture.

Mini Meatloaves- The classic comfort food made in a mini version. They come together quickly and making them smaller cuts your cooking time in half. Serve them with your favorite starchy side and call it dinner.

I know I promised a Halloween extravaganza this week but do you blame me for switching lanes. So much Fall goodness to share

But for this week a bonus dessert feature. Pumpkin Pie Dip from Lamberts Lately because I could not resist.

DIY Glitter Pumpkin Container

Fall is coming and ideas for fall decorations are just great for anyone who started to plan her or his fall theme at home or office and shop. I have an inexpensive and of course an upcycled project which help reducing plastic bottle waste. Yes, I made a DIY Glitter Pumpkin Container from plastic bottles. It’s super easy to make but the look is just amazing! perfect for fall occasions. Let me share with you how I made this DIY Gold Glitter Pumpkin Container

Things To Prepare

Super easy to make and easy-to-find supplies, great upcycled plastic bottles project. Let’s see what are the complete super short list supplies that were used to make this DIY Glitter Pumpkin Container :

  • Big plastic soda bottles (2 bottles)
  • White acrylic paint / White spray paint
  • Gold glittered glue
  • Gold glitter
  • Gold ribbon
  • Shelf handle

How To Make

This glitter pumpkin container is super easy to make. Great upcycled plastic bottle project to make with the whole family. Anyway, just follow these easy steps on how to make DIY Glitter Pumpkin Container :

1 . Make sure your plastic bottles are cleaned. Cut a bottle into two, cut around quarter of the bottom bottle. You need a pair of it.

2. Paint or spray paint both of the cut plastic bottle with white, to serve as a base color. Leave it dry.

3. Get a paper card and cut a long piece to be glued around the inner of one of the container. This will hold the two parts of container together if they are put together.

4 .Now apply gold glittered glue. Make sure it’s even. You can use a brush to do it. Before it’s dry, pour gold glitter all over the two plastic. Do it until all covered nicely with gold glitter. Let it dry.

5. Take a shelf handle and glue it on top of the container. Don’t forget to add a gold ribbon. Finished!

My glittered pumpkin container is just great for fall decoration or even for fall wedding favors. You can fill in some sweets inside the gold glittered pumpkin. How cute is that. The look of gold glittered pumpkin is looking very glamour. Perfect for fall wedding. The gold pumpkin is easy and quick to make. It’s also inexpensive; just great for budgeted fall.

4 Wicked Strategies To Get Your Retail Store Ready For Halloween

Halloween is just around the corner, which means it’s time for you to ramp up your spooky season marketing. So take the plastic skeletons out of the closet, dust off the fake cobwebs, and ready your pumpkins.

From spooking up your online presence to offering deals, discounts, and gift cards, there are plenty of things you can do to get ready for Halloween. This is also a chance for you to boost visibility for your brand and get some new customers into your store. And because Halloween is one of the most popular holidays in the US, the likelihood of that happening is very high.

In this blogpost, we’ve compiled a number online and offline strategies that you should use to get your store ready in time for Halloween. Let’s take a look!

1. Create A Halloween-Themed Window Display

If your window display is spooky enough, we can guarantee that you’ll see a greater influx of customers in your store. Create a small space at the front of your store, and place all your Halloween items in it. If you’re running a bookstore, stack your horror novels here. If you’re a clothing store, display your Halloween-themed shirts.

Next, get a life-sized plastic skeleton and settle it down in one corner, facing your Halloween items. The idea is to make it look like the skeleton is guarding your products. You can even accessorize the guy with a witch’s hat or a spider on the shoulder.

Finally, decorate the window itself with some fa-boo-lous Halloween-themed posters. Not only will these look good, but you can also use them to advertise a Halloween sale. If you’re looking for ideas on how to create the most eye-catching Halloween poster, check out PosterMyWall’s Halloween Calendar for some exciting ideas and inspiration.

Finally, sprinkle some fake cobwebs over your entire display to bring the whole thing together.

2. Sell Special Halloween Gift Cards

Put a stack of special gift cards at your store’s checkout station. People can buy these for their friends and loved ones. This will directly drive more traffic to your store for Halloween, as new customers will come in to redeem their gift cards.

You should also take steps to incentivize people to buy your gift cards. For instance, let them know that if they use the gift card online, they’ll be eligible for free shipping and special discounts.

3. Run A Bone-Chilling Social Media Campaign

When it comes to running a seasonal promotional campaign, social media is your best friend. It’s the perfect tool for creating hype around your store and for getting people talking.

So this Halloween, prepare a well-planned Halloween campaign for your social media. Below are some strategies you should try out:

Introduce A Halloween Bingo

Give people something to do each day for the 30 days leading up to Halloween e.g. a horror movie to watch, a costume to create etc. Dedicate one day to shopping at your store and introduce a special promo code. As people share the bingo on their pages, your promo code will gain more and more traction.

Run A Costume Contest

User-generated content (UGC) is 42% more effective than branded content. So ask people to share pictures of themselves in Halloween costumes, using a special hashtag. Incentivise people to share by offering freebies and special discounts to everyone participating.

Share Your Own Halloween Content

Keep engagement high so that people can see all your Halloween promotions. Accompany your posts about sales and discounts with other interesting Halloween-related content, for instance, a post about a must-watch scary movie or a recipe for a Halloween treat.

4. Display Your Halloween Products Strategically

So you’ve managed to bring people to your store for Halloween because of your social media marketing and your window display. Now what? You need to show your customers that your space is Halloween central by placing your Halloween products at the most visible spots in your store.

Here are a few places to consider for your Halloween merchandise:

  • Right near the entrance – so that they’re the first things people see when they walk in
  • Next to best-selling items – the traffic that those items will drive will help make your Halloween items more visible
  • In the center of the store – this lets customers who are exploring your store find the Halloween items they need
  • At the checkout station – small items such as skeleton keychains or tiny, rubber spiders should be placed at the counter so that people are inclined to pick something up when they’re paying their bill

Final Thoughts

Customers love stores that don’t take themselves too seriously and can get into the Halloween spirit. The more effort you put into your online and in-store strategies, the more foot traffic you’ll drive into your store for Halloween. So don’t be afraid to get as creative with your promotions and decor as possible. Happy Halloween!

DIY Halloween Trick Or Treat Vampire Bucket

Every time, near Halloween , my kid is always ask me to make a trick or treat bucket. And I always make it out of used things, an upcycled Halloween bucket as usual. I have made several trick or treat buckets before; like pumpkin shape, spider bucket, Frankenstein and a witch bucket. This time, I made it according to my kid’s request; a vampire trick or treat bucket. Sounds complicated? Not really, actually, it’s quite easy and simple to make. A little drawing involved, but I’m sure it’s just a simple drawing to do.

My vampire bucket for Halloween trick or treat does not have a super spooky look. I like to make something cute and less spooky for Halloween, like for example my pumpkin planter that I’ve made last week. Alright, let’s just get to tutorial part, I’m excited to show all my steps to make this cool and cute Vampire trick or treat bucket for Halloween.

Things To Prepare

It is a simple upcycled Halloween bucket, in fact; it’s easy to make. Well, a little drawing is needed, but it’s just a simple vampire face that you need to master. I use an old transparent plastic bucket that I have and painted it in white. You can use white paper bucket, it would be easier, but of course, just use anything that you have at home. Anyway, let’s find out what are the supplies I use to make this DIY Halloween Trick Or Treat Vampire Bucket :

  • A bucket (any bucket will do; from plastic to paper, transparent to colored)
  • Black plastic sheet
  • Black rope
  • Black paint
  • White paint
  • Red Marker
  • Black Marker
  • UHU clear glue

How To Make

I actually kind of enjoy making Halloween buckets. So, my kid’s request for trick or treat bucket every year is my fun command. How can not one enjoy it? It’s easy, cheap, you can be creative with it and the most important thing is to see your kid scream in joy with that happy excited face. So, what are you waiting for? Gather all the supplies I’ve mentioned above and follow these steps on how to make DIY Halloween Trick or Treat Vampire Bucket :

1 . Make sure your used bucket is clean as you need a clean surface to paint with. It will not stick if the bucket is dirty or greasy. Paint it in white if your bucket is not white like mine. Wait until it’s dry to proceed with the next step.

2 .Draw a face of a vampire by using a black marker. Start with the face outline, followed by the eyes, mouth and nose. Don’t forget the fangs. Then, use a red marker to color the tongue. This is a happy cute vampire expression that I made. So, it’s up to you to draw other kind of vampire look.

3. Paint the rest of the outer face area with black paint. Wait, until it’s completely dry.

4. Cut a black plastic sheet in a form of a vampire’s robe. And glue it to the back of the bucket. Let the glue dry.

5. Punch two holes to insert the black rope in both sides of the bucket. And you’re done!

You can easily prepare this vampire bucket for your kid’s last-minute Halloween trick or treat. It’s super easy and cheap, but super cute indeed! I guess this vampire bucket is one of my favorite bucket that I’ve made so far. I like the robe, because when my kid is carrying the bucket, the vampire robe would look awesome; especially when it’s blown by the wind, as if the vampire is moving it with his hand and ready to change into a bat. Lol!

DIY Pumpkin Planter

Fall decor without a pumpkin doesn’t look like fall; Halloween without a pumpkin doesn’t felt like Halloween either, especially a carved pumpkin! No matter how small your home is, you still can squish in a pumpkin. It doesn’t have to be a huge pumpkin, but it can be a small pumpkin decoration that stands out. Like my DIY pumpkin planter I’ve made from an old mug. It’s a cute happy pumpkin for Halloween and fall decor in a form of a succulent planter.

My pumpkin is not spooky but enough to bring in the Halloween vibes. So, if you can bring some joy to your home through that cute smiling pumpkin, why not? Anyway, it’s a frugal upcycling project that is super easy to make. If you have lot of mugs with that shape, then you can do more of my pumpkin planter with different pumpkin expression, that would be super cute! But, before going further, you may want to peek at my steps on making my cute pumpkin planter for succulent.

Things To Prepare

It is quick and easy to make and of course takes only a few simple materials to make this pumpkin planter for the Halloween. I use a vibrant cadmium red to get a very stand out pumpkin So, even though it’s just a small succulent planter, but the pumpkin looks bold and eye catching. Anyway, let’s find out my short list of supplies to make this DIY Pumpkin Planter :

  • An old mug with a pumpkin looking shape.
  • Dark orange acrylic paint or spray paint ( I use cadmium red acrylic paint)
  • White paint
  • Black Marker

How To Make

I love to make a functional decoration, so this cute pumpkin mug, would not just serve as a Halloween decoration, but a planter for my succulent as well. Super easy and quick to make, so you can make many of it. Just make sure your old mugs have a round shape that would look a bit like a pumpkin. I happened to have only one old mug that looks like a pumpkin, so I can only make one. Well, let’s just find out my steps on how to make DIY Pumpkin Planter:

1 . Drill a hole or two on the bottom part of the mug.

2 .Make sure your mug is clean, because the paint would not cover the surface properly on a dirty or grease mug. I painted my mug with white paint first for base and to cover some dark colors on my mug. Let it dry.

3. Paint the mug with dark orange color and wait until it’s dry to proceed with next step.

4. Draw eyes, nose and mouth of a smiling pumpkin on the painted mug planter. You can have any other expression you like for your pumpkin planter, but I like the happy pumpkin.

5. Get a stick shape succulent that would look like a stem and plant it on your pumpkin planter. Don’t forget to add some white little pebbles on top for a better clean look. And your pumpkin planter is done!

Isn’t it cute? Isn’t it frugal? You get a cute pumpkin for Halloween decor, you get a new home for your succulent to grow and you get to upcycling your old mug into something new, pretty and useful. So, what are you waiting for? Try look for your old mugs and find those that you can turn into a pumpkin planter for Halloween. DIY Fall Gold Seashell Holder

I still stick to my gold theme for fall decorations. This time the gold fall is presented for coastal decor. Some of you may have coastal living which is bounded very close to summer beachy style. However, you may put a little twist that can change the strong coastal feeling on summer to fall ambience; and without eliminating the seaside style of your coastal home. I made a fall decoration of a gold seashell bowl. It’s a multipurpose seashell bowl you can use for holding anything you want; maybe some keys, jewelry, a planter or just simply as it is, an element of fall decor.

It is a simple diy project but the gold seashell bowl does look fantastic to match your coastal fall decor. Since the fall seashell bowl has a simple look, it does apply to the making too, very easy and quick to make. Follow my tutorial and I’m sure you can make one for yourself.

Things To Prepare

You can buy seashells on any craft shop or you may have some stash of seashells like I do. I always collect any seashells whenever I have shellfish menu at home. Just wash it and dry it; and you can keep the seashells for a long time. Anyway, let’s go straight to my list of supplies. Here is the list of supplies to make my DIY Fall Gold Seashells Holder :

  • Seashells
  • Gold spray paint
  • Plastic bowl (you can use any bowl or pot that you like)
  • Hot glue

How To Make

I’ve been wanted to make a seashells holder since forever. I like the pattern from the overlapping seashells. I actually love both natural and painted look of the seashells. But for the sake of my fall theme, I chose gold painted seashells. Anyway, it’s super easy to make, just follow my steps and you’ll make it. To be clearer, let’s just go to the tutorial on how to make my DIY Fall Gold Seashell Holder :

1 .Clean the seashells and try to separate small to bigger seashells in group. You will need this grouping to get a better proportion look.

2 Glue the seashells one by one from the top of the bowl. Use the smallest group of seashells first, then you can continue it to the bigger and bigger seashells. Glue them by using hot glue gun and arrange them in bond pattern. That way, all the bowl surface will be covered by seashells and the look will be fabulous; like a blooming flower.

3 .Spray gold paint to the seashell bowl evenly. leave it to dry. And you’re done!

This gold seashell holder is added to my fall decoration. Use it for any purpose, from multi-purpose holder, planter to a plain decoration bowl. It would also look great if you put it together with other fall decorations to style your mantel, dining table or even your kitchen table. I’ve made my gold seashell holder, so maybe now it’s your turn to try making your own seashell bowl for fall decor!
