Upcycled Spring Sign from Bottle Caps

I was planning to make a collage of plastic bottle cap art work, but it’s difficult to collect them in such a short time. So I have only a few of it. Then I think of vibrant Spring colorful flowers. From there, I translate it into a piece of Spring sign. And I love how it turned out to be. So vibrant, lively and beautiful.

Things To Prepare

The paint colors for the bottle caps are up to bottle cap’s color that you have and what mix of colors that you want. I chose vibrant colors of spring. I use pink, red, yellow, orange for the bottle caps. Blue and green for the background. Try to replace it with something similar to my materials if you don’t have the same one. Just use whatever you have at home like I always do. Use more recycled things and use some scraps from previous projects. I guess that’s one of a best way to be sustainable. Let’s see what are the list of supplies for this Upcycled Spring Sign from Bottle Caps:

  • MDF board (in round shape)
  • Plastic bottle caps (in different sizes)
  • Pink paint
  • Blue paint
  • Yellow paint
  • Green paint
  • Black marker
  • Green marker
  • Hot glue

How To Make

It’s an easy Upcycled Spring project which you can make in a short time. Anyway, follow these easy steps on how to do Upcycled Spring Sign from Bottle Caps:

1. Paint the board with white paint as a base. Let it dry.

2 .Draw a wavy line that split the board into two parts.

3. Paint the bottom side with green and upper side with blue. Let it dry.

4. Paint bottle caps according to your desired colors. I painted it with pink and yellow since some of my bottle caps are red and orange.

5. Glue each bottle caps accordingly to a design that you should prepare before. Just a sketch of how the bottle caps arrangement is or arrange them before you glue it one by one with hot glue.

6. Last part is to write “Spring” on top side of the sign. How lovely!

7. Don’t forget to add a ribbon as the Spring sign hanger.

A great recycling project for Spring decor. You can display it with proud by your front door or mantel. It’s an adorable Spring decoration!

This Upcycled Spring Sign from Bottle Caps project is my contribution to The Sustainable Craft Challenge Blog Hop hosted by Julie with her beautiful blog Sum of Their Stories. It’s a craft challenge with a sustainable principle behind it (upcycling, recycling, repurposing), which comes in different theme for every month. This month, the theme is “Vibrant” and last challenge was “Heart” and I made DIY Valentine Heart Sign Upcycled Pistachio Shells. I love to be part of this challenge as I love to upcycle things into something new, beautiful and useful.
