DIY Pumpkin Fry Pan

Thanksgiving is counting in days. Preparing Thanksgiving from the meals to decorations take a lot of time and effort, which need a Thanksgiving planning. And of course budget is the main idea. If the budget is also your concern, then I have a great idea for saving some budget on Thanksgiving decoration. An upcycled Thanksgiving project would be a perfect idea to press down your Thanksgiving budget. Like what I did is to upcycling a fry pan into a Thanksgiving pumpkin for decoration. Easy and cheap Thanksgiving sign you can make in short time. Let’s find out more on what to prepare and how to make this DIY Pumpkin Fry Pan.

Things To Prepare

I think any household would have an old fry pan. Most of the time it’s just laying somewhere or thrown into a trash bin. Well, this time, save your and make use of your old fry pan. In details, let’s find out what are the supplies I use to make this DIY Pumpkin Fry Pan :

  • An old fry pan
  • Blue paint
  • White paint
  • A blue fabric
  • White lace
  • Black Marker
  • Hot glue

How To Make

Upcycling and recycling are my first options in any of my diy projects. It’s such a waste to throw something with potential. And of course we help to be more green in a very easy and pleasant way. Anyway, this fry pan – pumpkin is easy, cheap, you can be creative with it. The pan will be the pumpkin and the handle will be the stalk and used to hang your Thanksgiving pumpkin sign. So, what are you waiting for? Gather all the supplies I’ve mentioned above and follow these steps on how to make DIY Pumpkin – Fry Pan :

1 . Make sure your old fry pan is clean as you need a clean surface to paint with. It will not stick if the fry pan is dirty or greasy. Paint it in white and wait until it’s dry to proceed with the next step.

2 .Paint some lines, effortless, to show the pumpkin lines. Use a light blue mixed with a little darker blue. Let it dry

3. Get a black marker and write “BLESSED” in the middle of the fry pan pumpkin.

4. Add a blue ribbon and tie a bow on the top of the pumpkin. I made my blue bow together with a white lace. I glue it all, so it’s no-sew bow. I used a blue fabric to make the bow. Glue the bow by using hot glue. And your pumpkin fry pan is ready for your Thanksgiving decor.

Many ways to have this pumpkin fry pan looks, aside from my white and blue, you can use pumpkin color, or black and gold, even blue and white (the other way around from mine). It depends on your taste and of course your color scheme for your Thanksgiving decor this year.

DIY Thanksgiving Decoration

Pumpkins are just great element for entire fall decoration until you reach Thanksgiving. I made a DIY Thanksgiving Decoration by presenting a silhouette of a gold pumpkin with “blessed” as the sentiment. It is a painted Thanksgiving sign with a simple painting job. I have the pumpkin decoration in a white and gold color scheme with will be perfect for fall to winter transition decoration. Let’s find out more of things to prepare and how to make the DIY Thanksgiving decoration of a pumpkin sign.

Things To Prepare

I just love to play with any white media, and if it’s not white, I would paint it white. And this material I used, happens to be white, without needing white paint which is great for me. It’s a PVC board that I have in small cuts. I have some at my storage, so I used it to make some decorations instead of buying some new wooden plank. I also used the PVC board for some of my previous projects, like Black and White Halloween Sign and Coastal Coasters. Back to my pumpkin sign for Thanksgiving decoration, here are a few things I used to make the Thanksgiving blessed sign :

  • White PVC board
  • Black marker
  • Gold paint or gold marker

How To Make

This simple gold pumpkin decoration is an easy painted Thanksgiving sign. It’s just a mix of an abstract painting of a pumpkin and a “blessed’ wording. The steps are just painting steps. Anyway. here are the points on how I made the DIY Thanksgiving decoration:

  1. Cut a square shape of a white panel, I used white PVC board with 10×10 inches dimension.
  2. Paint a pumpkin in abstract look with gold paint or simply use a gold marker. Let it dry before you continue to next step.
  3. Write a word “blessed” in the middle of the pumpkin by using a black marker. Wait until it’s dry and you can use the gold pumpkin sign as a Thanksgiving decoration right away.

The steps are easy and the supplies used for my DIY Thanksgiving decoration are easy and simple. Grab your brush or marker to make your own abstract pumpkin and a Thanksgiving sentiment and you can show it off during the Thanksgiving dinner celebration.

How To Make Unique Thanksgiving Pumpkin Sign

Sometimes we’re tired of the same circle wreaths or square signs to be hung on our door or wall. For that,  I made something different, an unique pumpkin sign for coming Thanksgiving. It’s made from cardboard, so it doesn’t cost you much but if you already have wooden pumpkin shape, you can use it too. I shared with you how to make this unique yet simple Thanksgiving Pumpkin sign.

How To Make

You can always replace the cardboard pumpkins with wooden pumpkin, but that’s not too frugal, isn’t it? Well, here I shared with you some easy steps to make my Thanksgiving sign looks unique.

  1. Take a cardboard and cut 4 pumpkin shapes in 2 sizes.
  2. Paint the cardboard pumpkin , one for each size with white paint for base.
  3. Paint the white pumpkin cardboard with blue and green and white watercolors. Leave dry. This process will need a little skill in painting.
  4. Cut green flannel for 5 leaves shape.
  5. Use burlap rope to connect the big pumpkin and the small pumpkin.
  6. Glue the painted big blue pumpkin together with the rope to its other big cardboard pumpkin to make a sandwich.
  7. Do the same to the small pumpkin and use the other end of the burlap rope. Let it dry.
  8. Glue the flannel leaves to the pumpkins and the burlap rope by using UHU glue to have a better result.
  9. Write the word “be” on the small blue painted pumpkin and the word “thankful” to the big cardboard pumpkin by using a black marker.
  10. Hang the unique pumpkin sign on your wall or door for Thanksgiving decor.

DIY Grateful Thanksgiving Sign

DIY Grateful Thanksgiving Sign

It has been grateful weeks for me. Many good things I received on these last few weeks. And this month is a thanksgiving month, a thankful month. Days ago I just finished a simple Thank You card and on this post I was encouraged to make a diy thanksgiving sign.

It’s a simple painting of blue pumpkin that I painted in vintage style. I love vintage style with shade of blue colors. If you’re not a painter person, just use stamps, printing or decoupage. I used wooden cutting board as the media for the sign, I think it is more relate to the grateful pumpkin sign.

So what did I prepare for my Grateful Thanksgiving sign?

  • Wooden cutting block
  • White spray paint
  • Black acrylic paint
  • White acrylic paint
  • Blue acrylic paint
  • Green acrylic paint
  • Organic rope
  • Paint brush
  • Pencil

It’s a painting work I’m afraid. So, the steps to do it are basically painting :

  1. Spray paint the wooden cutting block with white spray paint. Let it dry.
  2. Draw a sketch of the sentiment and the pumpkin, blueberries, leaves, hydrangea with pencil.
  3. Draw the “Grateful” word with black paint, using paint brush. Let it dry.
  4. Paint the blue pumpkin, blueberries, hydrangea and leaves. Let it dry.
  5. Paint the background with light stroke of grey to get a rustic look. Let it dry. I found it easier this way than to sand it.
  6. The Grateful Thanksgiving Sign is finished!

The DIY ”Grateful” sign complimented by the blue pumpkin with vintage style and a bit rustic look. It would make a beautiful home decoration for you to hang it on your dinning room so you can always be grateful for all that served in your dinning table. Beautiful way to be reminded. And of course, it is a great accessories to add to your thanksgiving decorations.
