DIY Plant Label Tag for Mini Cacti

Summer is exciting time to show off your cacti and succulent collection. To make a perfect appearance of your lush cacti and succulents, try my idea of easy DIY label tag. It’s super easy to make, recycling plastic container and looks supper cute and summery. Just perfect for Summer cacti show at home. Now, let me share with you all the materials you need to prepared and how to make a DIY Plant Label Tag for Mini Cacti.

Things To Prepare

My plant label tag is a great way of reducing plastic waste that we have at home. I used a plastic box container which is a thin hard plastic, so it’s perfect for the tag. It’s easier to cut because it’s thin but durable enough because it’s a hard plastic. and the best thing is the color, so it won’t need a paint job. But you can always use transparent plastic if you don’t have the colored one but that means you have to paint it with your preferred color. Let’s see what are the complete super short list supplies that are used to make this DIY Plant Label Tag for Mini Cacti :

  • Plastic container (mine is yellow, you can use other colors that you favor)
  • Black ribbon
  • Foam double tape
  • Black marker

How To Make

For me, a DIY plant label tag should be easy to make as you definitely will make a lot of them to name your cacti collection. That’s why my plant tag label is super easy and simple to make. Follow these easy steps on how to make DIY Plant Label Tag for Mini Cacti and you know I’m right :

1 . I cut my plastic container into circles of 2 inches diameter. Mine is yellow, I love it, it matches my cacti on Summer theme.

2. Cut two stripes on top area of the plastic circle. These cutting is for inserting the ribbon.

3 .Then of course take the ribbon and insert it in the yellow circle tag. I like to match the yellow tag with the black ribbon, it looks good together, very contrast. Get a black marker and label the cacti or succulent. I only write down the genus name. It’s too long

4. Take a foam double tape and paste it on the tag to glue it on the cacti vase. Then, use the ribbon to tie around the vase. The double tape is to secure the tag while you tie the ribbon and it will hold the tag nicely.

I mixed my mini cacti with my succulents using the same label tag and label it with the genus name only. I think it looks cute with the wording. the label tag looks great for the both cacti and succulents. I really love recycling a plastic container into these label tags for my cacti and succulents, so I might going to make more with different styles. How about you?

How To Make Coastal Coasters

Enjoying a nice summer afternoon, would take more than just some nice fresh lemonade, but also some pretty decoration on your patio table to push up your happy sunny mood. Coasters is on of a pretty functional decoration you can have to spice up your lemonade experience. And my coastal coasters would be a great diy summer to make and enjoy.

I made this coastal coasters in only less than an hour. It’s super easy and fast summer DIY you can make to add more of your nautical decoration collection. And the material I used is a cheap and leftovers material that is easily cut. I used a pvc ceiling panels that I found on my storage, it’s a leftover that came in small pieces, but I still can manage to get a size of a coaster.

Things To Prepare

I think you can replace the pvc panels with maybe small tile or any other material you can find around your house. It’s all you need to have to make this DIY Coastal Coasters. The rest are just some paints. Here are the short list of my coastal coasters project:

  • PVC Ceiling panels (leftovers in small pieces)
  • Blue acrylic paint
  • White acrylic paint

How To Make

It’s a super easy and quick coaster to make, a little painting job but do not need a master of painting. It’s just a little pattern painting of an ocean, that’s all! Anyway, here are the short steps to make this coastal coasters for summer DIY :

  1. I cut the pvc panels in 4×4 inches (10×10 cms) and have it clean.
  2. Mix the blue paint with a litlle white paint to get your desired light blue color.
  3. Paint the first blank pvc coaster with a horizontal wavy pattern, then the second one with horizontal ocean wave, pointy wave and the third one with diagonal small wavy pattern. Stroke your brush one time only, and followed by next wave, don’t overlap it. Actually it depends on your creativity to come out with different kind of wavy pattern.h Let it dry. Finished!

Don’t you just love easy and quick DIY? These Coastal Coaster would do great for nautical summer theme decor. The advantage of having some pretty coasters on your table would not only serves as a coaster, but also as decoration ornaments on your table. It’s like a functional accessories. For that, be more creative and explore more oceanic pattern to make this coastal coasters and enjoy it with your lemonade on a sunny summer afternoon.

It is fun to make some summer craft along with your kids to spend your summer weekends. Especially DIY summer craft that you can use it to decor your home with and cost you less money. That is what I did with my DIY Summer Paper Straw Craft. It is actually made from a recycled material that I gave a different look by using colored paper straw.

I have this cute straw of pineapples in my drawer that I forgot where it’s from. Since a pineapple is tropical fruit which speaks for summer, I was instantly thought of making something out of it. After seeing so many inspiring paper straw crafts, I decided to make a framed summer sign from paper straw and a piece of old table calendar. It’s a cheap and easy craft to make, that’s for sure. I have prepared a list of things you need to have and tutorial on how to make this Summer DIY of Paper Straw Craft.

Picture122

If you have watermelon paper straw would be great too for this project. Or you can use summer colors straw if you have neither of pineapple or watermelon pattern straw. Anyway, let’s find out other supplies that you need to prepare for this paper straw craft. Here are the list:

How To Make

Super easy and quick summer craft to make that I only need to give a simple tutorial and I’m sure you can make it without any trouble. So, here are the steps to make this framed paper straw craft for summer DIY :

  1. Prepare a black hard card paper which I get from a used table calendar. I trimmed the side with holes.
  2. Cut the paper straw into sizes that fits the hard card paper and glue it. Make sure the pineapple pattern is showed and in-lined facing front. Leave it dry
  3. Write “Enjoy Summer” with white gel pen or marker in beautiful font. Finished!

DIY Upcycled Seashell Tray

Summer is still around and some of you may love to change around your summer decor to have a different fresh look at home all the time. But you still have to keep in budget for other important expenses, especially during this tough time. Creativity is mostly needed to solve this kind of need. My DIY upcycled seashell tray is one of a great summer decoration you can make without spending a great deal of money. I guess most of you who loves diy has already got the supplies needed on your craft room. Let’s find out more, anyway.

This is another seashells diy for summer decoration that I’ve made. It is an upcycled seashell tray that I made from a cover of a biscuit can. A biscuit can is of course is in every household, and you would only need the cover. And for seashells, the coastal tray was made from common seashells you can find in any craft store or even after you consume the it. Moreover are the paints, but to be clear, let see my list of the supplies to make this small coastal seashell tray.

Picture115

Things To Prepare

Okay, let’s look for a biscuit can and seashells around in your home. The rest are paints in common colors of white and light blue. The size of the tray is depend on how big your biscuit can is. I used a small cover to make a small tray for a small pot of plant. I have wrote down the list of supplies you will be needed to make my DIY upcycled seashell tray, and here are the list:

  • Biscuit Can Cover
  • Seashells
  • Light blue spray paint
  • White paint
  • Hot glue

Picture114

How To Make

This seashell tray is a fast diy to make. I spend more time waiting for the paint to dry than to put all the shells together. Now, straight away to the process of how to make my upcycled seashell tray. Here are the steps:

  1. Paint the white biscuit cover with white paint. Leave it dry.
  2. Paint the inner base of the cover with light blue paint. This is to make a great contrast to the white seashells and leave a coastal look on the tray. Let it dry.
  3. Paint the seashells in white, unless your shells are already nicely in white. Leave it to dry.
  4. Prepare your hot glue gun and glue the seashell one by one to the white can cover. Let it sit for  awhile to dry and get firm. And finished!Picture116

Easy and quick to make, plus simple supplies you can gather around your home to make this DIY upcycled seashell tray. It’s a coastal-look tray that will look fantastic to match your summer decor. Super cheap and won’t cost you trouble to make this upcycled coastal tray too. And it looks great when I paired it with some green plant on a navy blue and white pot mug. It scream for nautical style, that’s for sure. Now, it’s up to you to be creative with the things you to put on the tray to matched. Have a try!

Painted Summer Cactus Sign

I painted a summer cactus sign this time. I used the other side of my DIY Spring Sign , which makes it into a double sided sign, one side is for spring, and the other side is for summer sign. So you can hang the sign along two seasons of spring and summer, just need to flip it when the season is changed. Very practical sign isn’t it?

Why cactus is always relate to summer? I guess because it’s a tropical plant which able to survive in heat and less water environment. And cacti have a great ability to store water and protect it from evaporate through the succulent stem which has a smooth surface. A cactus can be build up by 90% water, incredible right? That’s why a cactus is a perfect plant for summer; low maintenance but cute and pretty as decoration. If you don’t have a cactus yet, you can paint it like I did, a painted summer cactus sign; and hang it in your home.

Picture91

Things To Prepare

This is absolutely painting work. I used my previous spring sign and use it as a double-sided sign. And the spring sign itself was an upcycling defected sign I bought from Daiso for half price. I don’t have to have more decoration at my storage by having a double sided sign. Anyway, these are the things that I used to make this painted summer cactus sign:

  • Wooden plank ( I used my previous spring sign)
  • Jute rope (It was there before as a rope hanger when I bought the sign)
  • White, light green, dark green, yellow, red acrylic paint
  • Black permanent marker

Picture88

How To Make

Since I already painted both side of the upcycled wood plank when I made my spring sign, my work was easier. That was why I can started painting on the other side which was already in white painted. I did it in a rough paint though, I like it in a bit rusty look.

  1. I started by painting the cactus pot in pink acrylic which was mixed from white and red paint. I chose the pot as the starter because it’s the middle object of the painting, it would be easier as the perimeter of the proportion. On top side, it would be the cactus and below would be the word “summer”.
  2. Decide where the light would be from, left or right, then you can paint some darker shade to the pot.
  3. Paint the cactus with light green first, followed by yellow mixed with a bit of white paint. Paint the yellow and form some parts.
  4. Enhance the parts by paint a blurry line with darker green. After that add some thorns along the lines with dark green paint. Leave it dry.
  5. Mix the pink paint from previous with white, get lighter pink to paint the flower o  top of the cactus. Give some shade of white and dark pink to have a 3D look.
  6. Write the word ‘SUMMER” by using black marker. Let it dry.

Picture92

I haven’t have a proper facility to perform a video to show the steps of my painting, but that is on my wish list, so who knows? 😊 I hope my tutorial would be handy to guide you to paint a similar cactus of your favorite. By the way, this little cute summer cactus sign would be a great addition to a summer decor. So, what are you waiting for? Get your brush and do little painting fun!
