DIY Patriotic Flower Vase

Today I share with you a very easy DIY Patriotic Flower Vase. It’s super simple and quick to make that it will be a great 4th of July decoration you can make in a short preparation. How convenience! Yes, and it’s also super low budget. It would be a wise choice to upcycling and use low budget supplies to make annual decorations in this hard situation. So, let’s find out more about my DIY red white blue Patriotic Flower vase.

Things To Prepare

The materials are only things around your home, and if you’re a crafter, then I’m sure you will have all the supplies I use. This Patriotic Day project is flexible in supplies, because you can use anything you can find at home that resembles things that I use to make my DIY glasses holder for Father’s Day gift. Anyway, here is the list of supplies to make my DIY Patriotic Flower Vase :

  • A used glass jar (mine is missing its lid, so I can no longer use it as a jar)
  • Red acrylic paint
  • Blue polka-dot ribbon

( If you don’t have the ribbon like mine, you can be creative with what you have. Like maybe you can paint your plain blue ribbon with white dots or put stickers. Or you can paint a white ribbon into blue polka ribbon. And another way is to use a plain blue ribbon and put some star embellish on it. Up to you! )

  • paper pom pom

You can make this pom pom from crepe paper or you can simply use white flowers, either fresh white flowers from your garden or faux white flowers. Just make use of anything you have. I use white paper pom pom because I don’t have white fresh flowers for this moment.

How To Make

My red white blue vase is easy to make, just a little paint job which doesn’t need an extra skill to do it. I’m sure your kids can tag along the making process. Anyway, this is the step by step tutorial on how to make my DIY Patriotic Flower Vase :

1 .Clean and dry the glass jar you want to use for this upcycling patriotic day project. Then paint the glass jar with red acrylic paint. Paint it roughly or smoothly will be your choice. The result will have their own character, weather is rustic rough by using paint brush to paint; or a smooth clean modern look if you use spray paint; all up to your style. I myself, use paint brush to get the farmhouse rustic look. Leave it to dry.

2 .Cut a blue polka ribbon and tie a bow on the neck of the jar.

3 .Put the white paper pom pom on top of the red blue vase and you’re done!.

Super quick and easy to make, my DIY Patriotic Flower Vase may take a longer time to wait for the paint to dry then other steps of making it. That’s why you can bring along your kids or your old folks to join along this patriotic day project. You can make more than one of this red white blue flower vase and use it as centerpieces on your 4th of July dinner table. How lovely it would look on your dining table. Well, have a great time making it!

Happiness is Homemade #375

Welcome back, everyone, to Happiness is Homemade! Each week we have bloggers stop by and share crafts, DIYs, life tips and hacks, home decor ideas, recipes, and many other family friendly posts. You will love all of the wonderful, creativity sparking ideas that are shared in this wonderful link party.

Favorite Features

Before we get to this week’s link party, I’d like to share our featured posts that were shared with us this past week. This is my third week of choosing the features, and it does not get any easier to choose only five!

First up Julie from The Farm Life shared with us a great idea for crafters. She created craft go-bags that she can bring with her from day to day so that when she finds herself with a little down-time, she can work on her DIY projects. All of us have those days when we have to go to doctor’s appointments, to take our children to practices, or, horror of horrors, to go to the DMV! There’s a lot of waiting, so why not utilize that time to be productive but also to pass the time having fun with one of your craft projects packed in a size appropriate bag, all ready to go when you head out the door. Check out her post for further instructions.

This post shared with us by Shelley from Calypso in the Country gives you a tutorial for making a DIY cane wrapped vase. This is a great piece to bring a little summer into your home. It’s a quick and easy project, but makes a big impact on your summer home decor. She even made two small votive vases to match!

Memorial Day is coming up, and I love adding patriotic decor to my home. This DIY flag wreath from Ann’s Entitled Life is just the ticket. I’ve made similar ones, and they are so easy to do. If you have French or balcony doors, make one for each door. Add some string lights, a patriotic banner, and some citronella candles and you have the perfect setting for outdoor get-togethers over the summer!

Farmhouse decor is all the rage today, and some of the price tags reflect that! Sarah from Must Have Mom has a solution for that. She bought some thrift store items and upcycled them using her Cricut to have the farmhouse look for less. She shows you how to create adorable signs, a riser, and the cutest flower container from an Ikea bin.

Finally Carol at Comfort Spring Station 5-Minute Updated Faux Orchid in just minutes. I love plants and flower indoors, but I kill every single one I’ve ever had. Faux plants can be quite expensive, so when you invest in one you need to be able to keep it around. Carol’s had a dated woven basket for the container, and she wanted to update it to a more sleek, modern feel. Check out her post to see how she did just that, and changed the entire look of her side table!

Time for the party!

Thank you for joining us this week. We are happy you’re here to share your latest posts and to check out the amazing ideas shared by other lovely bloggers! Be sure to stop by all of our hostesses blogs, we love when you stop by!

How To Make Red White Blue DIY Bottles With Coastal Touch

I have this idea of combining patriotic decoration with coastal touch. If you come to see, it has same colors theme, which are red, white and blue. When I think of the red white blue, I think of the flag with the stars; and when I think of seaside, I think of starfish. Isn’t that a great coincidence, points of connections between patriotic theme with coastal theme. Two themes come together and easy to make, interested? Let me share you the tutorial.

Picture118

What to prepare to make this nautical project for 4th July decoration?

  • Used three glass bottles (small, medium or big is up to you, but remember to have the right proportion with the starfish), I used small sizes bottles
  • Small dried starfishes
  • Red, white and blue paint
  • Organic hemp rope
  • Glue

Picture115

How to make Red White Blue DIY Bottles With Coastal Touch:

  1. Clean and dry the bottles. Paint each with red, white and blue paint. Spray paint or acrylic paint will do. But it’s going to be a lot easier with spray paint and more equally in term of shade and covering the surface. Let it dry.
  2. Glue the hemp rope to each bottle on the bottle’s mouth. Let it dry.
  3. Glue the starfish each one to each bottle. Let it set. Finished!

Picture117

Super fast, super easy, less money, great upcycling and you can use this nautical decorated painted bottles along summer, because not just it fits the 4th of July celebration, but also it’s easily goes with coastal theme. I hope my Red White Blue DIY Bottles With Coastal Touch inspiring and find the tutorial easy on how to make it.
