Blue Garden House of Home Office and Kid’s Play Room

Blue Garden House of Home Office and Kid’s Play Room

Hi guys! So relieved that I have completed the garden house of home office with kid’s play room design. On my related first post (Home Office Plus Kid’s Room on Garden – Floor Plan) I have shown and described the floor plan and my second post ( Home Office Plus Kid’s Room on Garden – Interior), I have shown and described the interior from 2 different views to give more detail look on the design.

Picture72

Just to refresh, the house is consist of office area, sitting area and on the mezzanine is the kid’s play room. It’s 2.8 m x 2.8 m, with the height of 2.5 m and minus 0.7 m from the ground level, that would make the total height of 3.2 m. The office area height to the mezzanine is 1.8 m and the mezzanine area is only 2.8 m x 1.4 m. So, the sitting area will be the cleared space with high ceiling.

Picture75

For the exterior color palette, I had it in blue, white and grey. The light blue came from the awnings on the terrace and windows. The dark blue came from the wooden plank on the side upper wall and the painted tin roof. The white was from the awnings, french door and french windows. The grey was coming from the tin roof which used as the wall. So, the exterior color palettes are still lingered to the interior color palettes.

Picture77

The garden house exterior is very simple but yet inviting. The cozy shaded terrace with the looking through french door and windows are inviting people to come in. You can work inside the garden house, your kids can have fun under your supervision on the play room mezzanine and you can invite some of your close friends or clients to have some cup of coffee or tea and chat. It is also a great sanctuary, could be a man cave, woman cave, kid cave, whatever! it’s a fun place to work and relax.

Picture76

This simple garden house is easily built with timber structure or light steel structure. The exterior finishes that I chose was wooden panels and tin roof as the wall. Then just cover the interior wall with gypsum panels, plywood or particle boards. It’s a choice to build more penny on the garden house or less penny.

Well, I hope you enjoy my design, the blue garden home of home office and kid’s play room. Right now it’s still on a paper, but who knows one day I get a chance to build it.

Every month I design a tiny scale of architecture which completed with the interior details for my exploration and your inspiration. The first architecture design post I’ve done was on last month,  Tiny Home for Holiday or Guest House With a Courtyard (Part 1)  , Tiny Home for Holiday or Guest House With a Courtyard (Part 2)Tiny Home for Holiday or Guest House With a Courtyard (Part 3), Tiny Home for Holiday or Guest House With a Courtyard Design. Home Office Plus Kid’s Room on Garden – Interior

Home Office Plus Kid’s Room on Garden – Interior

Hello again, on my previous post I have designed a place on the back garden, an office, a sanctuary, a place for little gathering with closed friends and family, hobbies room and a little place for my kid to play. Yes, a place of home office plus kid’s room on a garden. I have shown the floor plan on my previous post (Home Office Plus Kid’s Room on Garden – Floor Plan). This tiny little house has a mezzanine for the kid’s room while the office is under the mezzanine.

Picture75

The house is consist of office area, sitting area and on the mezzanine is the kid’s play room. It’s 2.8 m x 2.8 m, with the height of 2.5 m and minus 0.7 m from the ground level, that would make the total height  of 3.2 m. So, I’m sure anyone can build it on their backyard without any permission what so ever. The office area height to the mezzanine is 1.8 m and the mezzanine area is only 2.8 m x 1.4 m. So, the sitting area will be the cleared space with high ceiling.

So, these are the perspectives of the interior from the side-front view and side-rear view.

Picture73

The interior is a white wooden flooring, white wall, white as a based color. Second color is turquoise, third is yellow and grey. A dash of nautical ambience which goes along with summer colors palette to get a holiday feeling of refreshing. Huge french door and windows on the front side of the garden house for maximum light.

The office has a long “L” shape table to do kinds of work which I love, bigger table, more space to do your creativity. Storage under table, squeeze in a mini fridge for myself and entertaining friends; which you can do it in the sitting area. The sitting area has a sofa and a banquette which also serve as storage maybe for some blanket or pillows.

Picture74

The mezzanine has a little sofa, a set of little table and chair, a yellow bean bag, a blackboard and some nautical decorations. And the great part is, a huge storage for toys and crafts; the long shelve which also act as the railing for the mezzanine is perfect for storage.

On my next post, there will be the exterior views to complete the whole design of the home office plus kid’s room on garden.

See you!

Note: I entered Party Paint Friday

Creative all day!

Home Office Plus Kid’s Room Design On The Garden – Floor Plan

Home Office Plus Kid’s Room Design On The Garden – Floor Plan

Dear stayed home mommies or stayed home daddies,

I have some questions for you:

  • Have you ever wanted a place to work or an office at home?
  • Have you ever wanted to look out for your kids while they’re playing but you still be able to work?
  • Have you ever wanted a place to work at home but not inside your house?
  • Have your ever wanted a unique home office where you can bring your friends inside and have a little gathering?
  • Have you ever wanted a little sanctuary in your garden?
  • Have you ever wanted a tiny little house at your backyard garden?
  • Have you ever wanted your kids to have a play room or a play room outside the house?

Well, those wanted ideas are in my head all the time. So, I started to think of wanting to have a little place on the backyard by the garden, where I can use it for an office, a sanctuary, a place I can stay away from my house but still at home, where I can have a little gathering with closed friends and family, a place for doing my hobbies and work but I can still watch my kid, and of course a cool place for my kid to have as a play room.

Picture71

So, I’m designing this little place of home office plus kid’s room on a garden. I just finished the floor plan. This tiny little house has a mezzanine for the kid’s room while the office is under the mezzanine. There is also a little sitting area with a sofa for sitting or a day bed and a chest for storage and seats. It’s a mini house of 2.8 m x 2.8 m, with the height of 2.5 m and minus 0.7 m from the ground level, that would make the total height  of 3.2 m. So, I’m sure anyone can build it on their backyard without any permission what so ever. The office area height to the mezzanine is 1.8 m and the mezzanine area is only 2.8 m x 1.4 m. So, the sitting area will be the cleared space with high ceiling.

Picture72

What I had in mind for the interior is a white wooden flooring, white wall, basically dominant white. Then mixed it with turquoise, complimented with yellow and grey. A nautical colors you can say and it goes along with summer colors palette. It seems more like holiday spirit to have slightly nautical theme, it relates with a beach.

For the exterior, I think of some uses of awning, tin roof, aluminium or timber. I still considering the best cheap durable choices for this garden house of home office plus kid’s room design.

I have only done the sketches for the interior and exterior, so for my next post I will complete the interior and exterior view with colors. Need to find some quite time to finished the drawings 🙂

Well then, I got to go continue my home office and kid’s room design on garden drawings, it’s all still clouded in my head, got to pour it all on the paper.

See You!

Have a creative Sunday!

Style Your Desk With White

I know I have posted so many colors as an accent to style your desk in daily color mood, from black, blue, yellow, green, red, purple to pink. But I couldn’t help myself to style my desk with another color, which is white. Salute to white!

Style Your Desk With White

White – Be purely sophisticated

I know I have posted so many colors as an accent to style your desk in daily color mood, from black, blue, yellow, green, red, purple to pink. But I couldn’t help myself to style my desk with another color, which is white.

As on all my previous post on style your desk, I keep reminding you to use 60-30-10 rule. And for this white color styling, I use 60% dominant color of grey (the wall), the 30% secondary color of white (table, wall shelve, all decorations, etc) and the 10% accent of black (the blackboard). Since the grey wall is not solid but combination of white and black washed, so basically 90% of dominant and secondary color became white and the accent color became black (mainly the blackboard).

Picture23

I still did not change any main items like all other color styling, but the look now have changed because of the color proportion. I ode this to white as the most natural and easiest color to work with. And the best thing from white is that it looks sophisticated, pure up scale and shows that the owner must be a clean person! Salute to white!

So, I have shown you 8 different colors accent that even though only takes a view small items to make it stand out, the accent color really give each color-style a different personality, don’t you think? Now, it is your turn to style your desk according to your color mood.

Style Your Desk With Daily Color Mood – Purple

Decor your working space, mainly your desk is very essential to boost your working mood.Well, at least I do. Styling your desk everyday will give you different atmosphere each day. That will make you feel brand new and your desk even look brand new everyday. you don’t have to change everything in your desk, just couple of decorations or even your stationary to give a different touch to your desk. The smartest way is to change only the accent and leave the rest as it is. For that, I can give you the easiest accent for decorating your desk, which is… color! yes, just change your accent color to style your desk according to your daily mood.

I have post continuously on different color accent to style your desk according to daily mood. From posts : Style Your Desk With Black, Blue, Yellow, Green, Red; until today, Purple Saturday. Saturday night is time for dating, mingle, sociable… so, let’s do it gracefully like a purple color. someone you take home may want to see your desk, then show him your grace and soft but sporty side. I always consider purple as in-between color, between blue and pink (actually it’s red but see it as 2 genders, blue for masculinity and pink for feminine). That’s why I like purple!

Picture17

As always, start with the 60-30-10 rule, 60% of primary color, 30% of secondary color and 10% for accent color. No need to buy new decorations, unless you really have to, just use whatever you have in the color you want. I’m sure you will have things in your favorite color. Use whatever you got and just be creative.

Now that you have style your desk in purple or any of your favorite color, it is time for you to face this excited long Saturday.

Have a graceful creative Saturday!

STYLE YOUR DESK WITH DAILY COLOR MOOD- GREEN

Style your desk with daily color mood – green; and experience the green Thursday of earthy feeling.

STYLE YOUR DESK WITH DAILY COLOR MOOD- GREEN

Green Thursday – Have an earthy day!

It is Thursday, many days you have faced through a week, it is time to be humble after all you have achieved from Monday to Wednesday. The best way to express your humble or down to earth mood is to be earthy. And one of the closest color to describe the earthy feeling is green. So, let’s style your desk with daily color mood – green.

According to 60-30-10 rule that I mentioned on my earlier post (yellow Wednesday); the 60% dominant color is grey looking (the wall), the 30% secondary color is white (table, wall shelve, etc) and the 10% accent is green (nice green decorations and stationery).

Picture11

I keep explaining the 60-30-10 rule because it is very important to have a balanced color and pattern mixed. Unless you wanted a monochrome color only, but isn’t boring? Plain boring indeed. Of course we have to mixed color and pattern in order to achieve higher level of design. And the 60-30-10 rule will keep you in a right order, not too much but just right.

Pinterest-icon

Picture10

So, whatever color you choose, always be creative in choosing the right elements, especially the one that will accentuate the entire design. For example, among the green elements where green is the accent color; one very stand out green element is the green plant I have on my book shelve above the table. The way its green leaves dangling from the white shelve gracefully, really stole the show. And the earthy feelings suddenly surrounds you.

Well, enough for dramatization, just get yourself to style your desk with daily color mood – green; and experience the green Thursday of earthy feeling.

See you on Friday

Back to your creative root!

STYLE YOUR DESK WITH DAILY COLOR MOOD- YELLOW

STYLE YOUR DESK WITH DAILY COLOR MOOD- YELLOW

Yellow Wednesday – Energize Your Day!

Smile and be your own sunshine! It is the middle of the week, you need to be recharged by energize your day. Yellow is the bright sunshine color that will elevate your mood. So today, let’s style your desk with daily color mood – yellow!

It always start with the basic rule of 10-30-60 that I have explain in my two previous post of black Monday and blue Tuesday. The 60% dominant color is grey looking (the wall), the 30% secondary color is white (table, wall shelve and everything) and the 10% accent is yellow (some yellow decorations and stationery).

Picture6

If you have a neutral color or pattern for the 60% dominant color, it would be easy to incorporate it with another color or pattern. Neutral color can be white, ivory, grey, black, soft cream, very light yellow, etc. For pattern, a light color pattern with not much variation, like my wallpaper, also pattern without color that is more to texture, and so on.

I used more like monochrome color for both my dominant and secondary color, so it is easy for me to give an accent to another color that I want to be pop up. Look for yellow things in your home that can be used as an accent. It can be yellow photo frame, yellow wall organizer, yellow journal, any other yellow things you have. Then style it into your desk.Picture7

STYLE YOUR DESK WITH DAILY COLOR MOOD- BLACK

Style your desk with daily color mood – black. To make something pop up, use the 30-60-10 Rule

STYLE YOUR DESK WITH DAILY COLOR MOOD- BLACK

Black Monday – it’s time to get serious!

For me, in order to do something, I need enough space and a mood. Since my activity is more to crafting, drawing, writing, so I need a descent table that big enough for my working area. And to bring up the mood, I need a good atmosphere to work. That can be achieved with the easiest way by styling your desk.

I love white color, looking clean and expensive, very sophisticated. Also, it goes with any color. So, I have this working white desk. It’s like a blank canvas. You can style it in any color. Since today it’s Monday, im going to style it with the color black. it looks serious and Monday is the first day of the week. It will determine the rest of the week. So, get serious. Let’s style your desk with daily color mood – black.

Basically I have some things that I love and need very much that I want it to be in my desk all the time. That things are my white laptop, my inspiring words decoration, my lovely white roses, my pencils, etc. So all of that will stay while the rest will be the element of decoration, it can come and go, just like the mood.

Picture1

To make something pop up, use the 30-60-10 Rule (from HGTV tips), 60% of a dominant color, 30% of a secondary color, 10% of an accent color. 60% of a more neutral color, you need a blank canvas actually. 10% accent for the pop up thing or color that you want. 30% of complimentary color which would not overshadow the accent, yet not too neutral and become the 60%.

See, on my setting, the 60% dominant color is grey looking (the wall), the 30% secondary color is white (table, wall shelve and everything) and the 10% accent is black (here and there, black things).

Picture2

It does not have to be masculine with black. But black can be powerful feminine. Give some elements that will soften the color black. The white roses, polka dots round bag, surely soften the color black.

So, do you like the style? Now, it’s your time to try style your desk with daily color mood – black. It’s time to get serious, gals!

Creative black Monday!

See you on Tuesday!

CREATE YOUR OWN HOME OFFICE IN A TINY AWKWARD SPACE INSIDE YOUR HOUSE VOL.3 – Home Interior

create your own home office in a tiny awkward space inside your house.
A corner, actually has a potential space for an emergency home office.

CREATE YOUR OWN HOME OFFICE IN A TINY AWKWARD SPACE INSIDE YOUR HOUSE VOL.3 – Home Interior

This is my third post about creating a home office in a tiny awkward space in a house.  If you haven’t read the 2 first posts, then you need to take a look at it, you may get inspired! In that 2 each posts I have shown a sketch of a common setting of an awkward and tiny space we usually find inside a house and have been changed into a small home office.

First, was by the wall railing to the staircase downstairs, second was a space under the staircase and this last space was in a corner. Yup, a corner!

A corner somewhere in your house maybe have a very good potential to become a cozy little home office and you just don’t realize it. Now you may need to carefully seek for that corner space. Because once you find it, you can easily change the space to be more functional and meaningful than before, by creating a home office. Sometimes you need a little bit interior works to do or sometimes you just pull in a little table and a little chair, decor it a bit and then you got yourself a brand new space, a home office!

For that I gave you 2 illustrations, each one is a corner somewhere in a house that sometimes it’s only used as a space for a decoration purposes, like maybe a space for a big decorated vase, a decorated end table, a feature wall just to make the corner felt less awkward, and so on.

1. A corner in a large room

Usually a big room have one or more corners that you need to fill in with something that tie in with the rest of the room to make it less awkward. For that purpose, more often people just put a big nice chair, a standing lamp or a statement decoration. Or the worse is sometimes you just left it empty! And that what makes a room or a corner felt cold.

So, below I gave sketch of a little but cozy home office in a corner somewhere. Just need a small table and a chain, then you just create your own home office in a tiny awkward space inside your house

home off 3
2. A corner in a transition room.

This corner usually left with decorating purposes only too. While actually has a potential space for an emergency home office. And maybe if you feel cozy enough, you may want to make it as a fixed home office.

Take a narrow but a tall practical table and chair and a standing lamp, set it in a stylish way. You won’t believe the result. Look at my sketch! You will feel like you are sitting in some industrial cafe somewhere in the town.

I hope my 3 posts on how to create your own home office in a tiny awkward space inside your house will inspire you all. I do really wish that you can make one based on my guidance from my posts.

So, if you like one or more of my posts, please don’t hasitate to follow my blog, I still have more and more ideas that will inspire and help you to create one for your own.

Make it creative!

See you!

CREATE YOUR OWN HOME OFFICE IN A TINY AWKWARD SPACE INSIDE YOUR HOUSE VOL.2 – Home Interior

To create your own home office in a tiny akward space inside your house .
This is the little space commonly found under a staircase.

CREATE YOUR OWN HOME OFFICE IN A TINY AWKWARD SPACE INSIDE YOUR HOUSE VOL.2 – Home Interior

On my last post, i gave a setting of the awkward and tiny space we usually find inside a house and change it into a small home office space. So on this post i showed you another example to create your own home office in a tiny akward space inside your house .

This is the little space commonly found under a staircase. And the first thing that people does is just simply close it all the way up as a storage cabinet. Well, you can install a little cabinet on one side but then squeeze in a table or a wood panel on the other side and you will got yourself a little home office. See the sketch i made below, it’s simple but very functional.

home off 2

With this arrangement, you can do your work and have plenty of storage for your office supply. Before that, it’s only an empty space under the staircase or a storage cabinet, but once you put in a table and a chair, it’s suddenly changed it’s function to be more useful and alive.

At last, you can style your home office in a way you like and inspiring. But always remember to find a way to relate it to the rest of the rooms in your home. Maybe from the color tone or the pattern.

So, next post I still got some more idea of how to create your own home office in a tiny akward space inside your house. I will get into it once i finished my sketches.

See you soon!

Think creative!

CREATE YOUR OWN HOME OFFICE IN A TINY AWKWARD SPACE INSIDE YOUR HOUSE VOL.1 – Home Interior

Here’s what you can do to create your own home office in a tiny awkward space inside your house.

CREATE YOUR OWN HOME OFFICE IN A TINY AWKWARD SPACE INSIDE YOUR HOUSE VOL.1 – Home Interior

Do you need a home office? Well, no need a grand office table, just at least a decent table and a chair where you can read and write or open your laptop.

And do you have an awkward space inside your house that is quite tiny that you don’t know what to do with it?

I have some solutions for two of your problems above. You can make use of the awkward space into a nice sanctuary of yours and the tiny space into a functional space. Both problems become two advantages.

Since i dont know what kind of awkward and tiny space you got in your house, so i made some common settings that we ussually find.

First setting is the little space we find by the staircase on the second floor.

Usually people only put a big vase of plant or just leave it empty. But actually it’s a potential space for mini office. And the good thing is when you work at second floor, you still aware of what happening downstair through the void.

Here’s what you can do to create your own home office in a tiny awkward space inside your house. You can add a simple hanging wood panel to serve as a table. The panel can be built into the railing wall. On top of the wall you can add smaller wood panel to hold all your books. Then find a confy chair to complete your home office. You can also hang a  wall organizer or a board to suite your working needs. Below sketch may described more for this first setting.

home off 1

There you can see that it takes only a tiny space where you can squeeze in your home office and change the awkward space becomes meaningful for you.

I still have several settings in my mind to create your own home office in a tiny awkward space inside your house, but i haven’t prepare the sketches. So, i will show it to you on my next post.

See you very soon!

Always be creative!
