DIY Mother’s Day Flowers Standing Card

Mother’s Day is just a week to come and I have prepared a beautiful card for my mom. It’s actually a standing card, a card that you can display it as a table decoration. It would be something to be showed instead of something to be kept inside in a drawer or a box. My DIY Mother’s Day Flowers Standing Card would be a great inspiration for you to make your own Mother’s Day card. Let’s find out more on how I make a flowers standing card for Mother’s Day.

Things To Prepare

This Mother’s day standing card is a great DIY card to make in a short time, but the result is pretty enough to make your mom happy. Anyway, I used my felt flowers as the main decoration for my Mother’s Day card. you can learn how to make by checking on my post Super Easy DIY Felt Flowers. Now, let’s see what are all the supplies that are used to make thisDIY Mother’s Day Flowers Standing Card:

  • Black card
  • felt flowers
  • Mini ribbon flowers
  • Cardboard
  • White marker
  • Clear Glue

How To Make

Don’t worry about the felt flowers, it’s very easy to make, check out my post on felt flowers and you will see how easy it is to make them. All you have to do is gather all the supplies which I’ve mentioned above and follow these easy steps on how to make DIY Mother’s Day Flowers Standing Card :

1 . Have a black card in a shape of a rectangle. I upcycled my table calendar which happens to be black and cut it into a rectangle shape.

2. Cut cardboard into four sides of frame. Glue it around the the black card to form a frame. let it dry and firm.

3 .Arrange the three felt flowers and glue it on the above side of the frame.

4. Then followed by adding some mini ribbon flowers on each corner of the framed card.

5. Last, but not least is to add a structure to the back of the framed card in order to make it able to stand. use the cardboard leftover as the structure. Finished!

Super easy to make, am I right? This flowers standing card is perfect idea for a Mother’s Day gift that anyone can do-it-yourself. Simple and cheap supplies, easy to make but pretty result and your mom can display it easily anywhere she wants, that’s what I love in a DIY. This flowers card is also packed with recycled things which is a great way to be green.

DIY Pin Cushion With Storage For Mother’s Day Gift – No Sewing

Hello everyone! Mother’s Day is another two weeks, have you prepare anything as a gift to your mom? A special handmade gift perhaps? Let me share an idea of mine of handmade Mother’s Day gift I made for my mom. Since my mom love to sew, I made her DIY Pin Cushion With Storage For Mother’s Day Gift and I promise you no sewing work!

It’s easy and I used scraps I found from the fabrics to the foam for cushion filling. Funny thing is I get all the scraps from my mom, except the container. I got the container from re-using a hair product plastic jar. I thought it can serves as a great container for small things, a sewing kit organizer. Then I thought of sewing kit, yes, with top lid as a pin cushion and inside container as a storage to sewing kit.

Picture138

Things To Prepared

You can buy the fabrics online or just use scrap fabrics you can find at home. Just think creative to combine the fabric scraps you have. Okay, let’s run down the supplies I used to make this upcycling project of DIY Pin Cushion With Storage for Mother’s Day Gift

  • Plastic container or plastic jar
  • Sponge (mine is scrap sponge, that is why I have to put small pieces together)
  • Maroon fabric (any color is welcomed to replace it)
  • Maroon lace
  • Maroon ribbon
  • Pearl sticker
  • UHU Glue

Picture134

How To Make

It’s a no sew fabric project so this Pin Cushion With Storage For Mother’s Day Gift is an easy DIY. Your only tool to make this pin holder is glue! Well, let me describe how I make this mother’s Day gift.

  1. Cut the maroon fabric into a rectangle that the length can cover enough the perimeter of the container. And the width is twice the height of the container.
  2. Circle the back of the fabric around the container and have it glued at the end.
  3. Flip over the fabric and you will see the front fabric is covering the container like a slip over.
  4. Arrange the fabric to form three folded tiers. Secure each folding with UHU glue.
  5. Take the sponge and cut it into circle that fits the lid cover. I double the sponge as my sponge is only 1/2 inch thick. Glue it onto the lid cover. The sponge is serve as a cushion to hold the sewing pins.
  6. Cut a circle fabric to cover the spongy lid cover. Fold the end of fabric to the cover and finish it with maroon ribbon.
  7. Cut maroon lace of the flower shape one by one and use it to decorate the container lid cover. Use some glue too.
  8. Add some tiny pearls to decorate the container’s tiered fabric. I used pearl sticker.

Picture137

There are plenty of possibilities for you to explore with this pin cushion container. You can use your mom’s favorite colors, your mom’s favorite old dress fabric scraps or be experimental with the pin holder by using your creative mind. Easy and cheap DIY to make and perfect handmade Mother’s Day gift as you can find the supplies all around your home without having to go out and spend money to buy. So, you still can stay at home and be safe from Corona Virus but still able to creatively prepare a personal Mother’s Day gift to your mom who love to sew. And as I promised, this DIY Pin Cushion With Storage For Mother’s Day Gift is a no-sewing project. Anyway, have a great time making it!

Happy Mother’s Day Flowers In Watercolor Card

Happy Mother’s Day to all Moms and Moms to be! Different country would have different day for Mother’s Day, but all moms deserve one day to be celebrated, pampered and showered with so much love, agree? And the best simple traditional way is to give mom flowers with a card. But you can give both in one card, a flowers card. I painted a bouquet of flowers in watercolor with the words “I Love You Mom”.

Picture57

I sketched the flowers bouquet with pencil and painted it with watercolors. I wrote the words “I Love You” by using drawing pen and “Mom” with brush pen. If you would like to know what colors that I used for painting, here are below:

  • Crimson & White ( I mixed it to get pink shades)
  • Lemon Yellow & Ochre ( I mixed it to get darker yellow)
  • SAP Green

Picture55

Not just handmade card you can give your mom, but a hand painted Mother’s Day card would be meaningful as well as a gift. It’s just a quick painting with watercolors, but your mom would be happy especially if it’s her favorite flowers that you drew. So, be inspired, and if it’s not for this year’s Mother’s day, you can use the inspiration on next year or on mom’s birthday! Happy Flowery Mother’s Day!
