DIY Fall Upcycled Gold Tray

This fall or my friends at UK call it autumn; I made more gold fall decorations. I love the fancy look of a gold decoration. Gold color elevates your room decor, the ambience and make a great focal point. Don’t be afraid to use a little gold on your room, just don’t use it too much; less is more. I always believe in that. Anyway, my DIY Fall project this time is an upcycled gold tray that I made from a biscuit can. Let’s check out how I made this simple gold tray.

This simple fall DIY upcycled gold tray is like a plain canvas that you can use to be paired it with many fall ornaments or even non-related fall season’s ornament at all. So, it’s a great diy decoration you can use in any season as long as you have a dash of gold in your room decor theme. Use it to hold a vase, use it to hold some succulents, use it to hold some fake metal fruits, or use it to hold some pine cones or acorns for a fall decor like I did on the picture; where I used my gold acorn made of pistachio’s shells.

Things To Prepare

I love the idea of simple DIYs, simple means easy to find materials; preferred upcycled materials, not using many kind of materials and inexpensive materials. And so does this DIY Upcycled Gold Tray for Fall, it’s a simple and easy to make. Here are a very short list of supplies that you need to prepare to make this Gold Tray:

  • Biscuit tin can (round shape)
  • Gold spray paint
  • White spray paint
  • Pipe holder (small size) The pipe holder size is following the tin can size to get a good proportion between the tray and the tray holder.
  • Instant glue ( or you can also use silicone glue)

How To Make

A simple DIY also means it’s super easy and quick to make. Same as this upcycled gold tray, these are the super short list of steps to make it :

  1. Clean a round shape of biscuit can and spray paint the inner side with white spray paint.
  2. take a pair of small metal pipe holder and glue it to both sides of the biscuit can. Wait until it’s dry.
  3. Once the glue has dried, spray paint it with gold color evenly. Let it dry completely. And you finish!

This gold tray is great to sit on your coffee table or a corner table. You can make a big size, medium or small depends of how big your biscuit can is. Just be creative with the look, if you prefer more is more, you can add decorative ornaments on the gold tray, just use your creativity. Whereas I like my DIY Fall Upcycled Gold Tray stay simple.

DIY Fall Gold Acorn

Fall is coming soon, many of you are preparing new decorations to spice things up at home. And for those who love to personalized your own decorations, I may have an idea for your Fall DIYs plan. I made an acorn in gold and reconstructive look. I just love the color gold for fall. It’s an easy DIY fall and simple material to used, even recycled material as one of the main supply for this DIY acorn.

My DIY Fall Gold Acorn is one of a different way to present an acorn. It’s a faux acorn that I made from plastic egg and pistachio’s shells. Quick and easy to make, also inexpensive, that is what I love for a seasonal diy decorations. And for this fall gold acorn, you can use it from year to year because acorn is one of the symbol of the fall and you can easily mix it with other ornaments of decorations. The gold acorn can be used as a main star or as a complimentary ornament; it’s up to you to arrange it.

Things To Prepare

I still have some plastic eggs from last Easter and some pistachio’s shells from my Pistachio’s Shells Sunflower project. So, I didn’t need to buy new supplies for this Fall project. I guess, some of you may have the same supplies as mine, and that would be easier for you to follow my tutorial right away. These are the complete list of supplies you will be needed to make a fall gold acorn:

  • Plastic egg
  • Pistachio’s shells
  • Gold paint
  • Wooden stick
  • Hot glue

How To Make

The great thing about this pistachio’s shells acorn is that it’s so easy to make and inexpensive for you to make in large amount. So, gather all your supplies I have mentioned before and let’s start to make a gold acorn from pistachio’s shells. And these are the easy steps to make DIY Fall Gold Acorn :

  1. Start with choosing pistachio’s shells and separate them in sizes. Take the bigger size group of pistachio’s shells and glue it one by one onto the plastic egg by using hot glue. Position the shells around the middle of the egg and the bigger part of the egg that will be fully covered by pistachio’s shells.
  2. Continue to glue pistachio’s shells one by one, row by row all the way up to the top of the egg. And while the glue is still hot and melt, insert a small wooden stick in the middle top. It would look like a stalk. Let it dry before you move on to painting work.
  3. Use a gold spray paint and spray it evenly to the pistachio’s shells acorn. Wait until it’s dried. Finished!

Yes, this gold acorn is as easy as that! Quick and simple to make, so you can make lots of them and have it to decorate your home for this fall. You can put them on your mantel, your dining table for fall tablescape, living room table, kitchen top or use it to make a fall wreath. Anything, anywhere in other colors too! You can paint the pistachio’s shells acorn in white, blue or other colors you favor. Wait no more and give it a try!

DIY Gold Decorative Skeleton Leaves

DIY Gold Decorative Skeleton Leaves

On my previous post I have given a simple tutorial on how to make diy skeleton leaves without chemical. Some are perfectly done but I also got ones with defects. Small part of the skin was dried before it reach decaying process, so the skin still intact to the skeleton, can not be removed. But no need to straight away throw them as they can be turned into something useful and pretty. On this post I’m going to show you how to use those defected skeleton leaves into decorative leaves.

Since we all need lots of inspiration for the autumn season decorations, I made the leaves art in shimmering gold. Fancy! So, need to prepare :

  • Skeleton leaves ( I used the defected ones).
  • Gold paint
  • Paint brush
  • Gold glitter
  • Red glitter
  • Bling stickers
  • Glue
  • Black Acrylic paint

How to make diy decorative leaves?

  1. Paint the leaves with gold paint. I don’t dye it because I don’t want to waste too much of my gold paint. So I painted it. Leave it dry.
  2. Put the painted leaves on the pages of a book and press it for couple of hours until it firmed.
  3. Apply some glue and then pour some gold glitter on the defected area of the skeleton leaf. Decorate it as you desired, don’t just cover the defected area but also give some artsy touch to it. Then, leave it dry.
  4. You can play with more decoration, bling stickers, glitters, paint etc.
  5. Now you got yourself some decorative leaves from defected leaves. From here, you can make use of the decorative skeleton leaves into lots of other purposes.

I got 5 gold skeleton leaves with 5 different look. The black and gold, the red and gold, the gold and flowery bling, the plain gold and the last one is the bling gold. the plain gold was the one with the most minor defect, so after I painted it with gold, the defect did not show.

I wanted to pick one of the decorative leaf as my journal mark, but I haven’t decided yet. But if I have chosen one, I will have it pressed with plastic sheet and give some ribbon or something. In that way, I can preserve the decorative leaf as a firm journal mark.

The rest of the gold decorative I kept it in case I need some decorative leaves to decor other projects, especially during this autumn season.

Well, I hope my diy gold decorative skeleton leaves bring some inspiration to your diy fall decorations or gifts.
