Enjoying a nice summer afternoon, would take more than just some nice fresh lemonade, but also some pretty decoration on your patio table to push up your happy sunny mood. Coasters is on of a pretty functional decoration you can have to spice up your lemonade experience. And my coastal coasters would be a great diy summer to make and enjoy.

I made this coastal coasters in only less than an hour. It’s super easy and fast summer DIY you can make to add more of your nautical decoration collection. And the material I used is a cheap and leftovers material that is easily cut. I used a pvc ceiling panels that I found on my storage, it’s a leftover that came in small pieces, but I still can manage to get a size of a coaster.

Things To Prepare

I think you can replace the pvc panels with maybe small tile or any other material you can find around your house. It’s all you need to have to make this DIY Coastal Coasters. The rest are just some paints. Here are the short list of my coastal coasters project:

  • PVC Ceiling panels (leftovers in small pieces)
  • Blue acrylic paint
  • White acrylic paint

How To Make

It’s a super easy and quick coaster to make, a little painting job but do not need a master of painting. It’s just a little pattern painting of an ocean, that’s all! Anyway, here are the short steps to make this coastal coasters for summer DIY :

  1. I cut the pvc panels in 4×4 inches (10×10 cms) and have it clean.
  2. Mix the blue paint with a litlle white paint to get your desired light blue color.
  3. Paint the first blank pvc coaster with a horizontal wavy pattern, then the second one with horizontal ocean wave, pointy wave and the third one with diagonal small wavy pattern. Stroke your brush one time only, and followed by next wave, don’t overlap it. Actually it depends on your creativity to come out with different kind of wavy pattern.h Let it dry. Finished!

Don’t you just love easy and quick DIY? These Coastal Coaster would do great for nautical summer theme decor. The advantage of having some pretty coasters on your table would not only serves as a coaster, but also as decoration ornaments on your table. It’s like a functional accessories. Easy DIY Spring Coaster

Some have found Spring, some are still waiting. But one thing for sure is, most of you must be preparing our home for Spring decor; from small functional things to decoration purposes only. Everything smells and look like Spring. Flowery decor is the easiest way to capture the Spring. And this time I spread a little Spring to your coffee or tea rituals. I made an easy Spring coaster.

Picture71

I made my Spring Coaster from cotton rope and colored burlap rope. I used the cotton rope as the coaster and the colored burlap rope as the flower decoration to the coaster to get the Spring twist. This is an easy DIY you can make to give some Spring to your home. And the best part is you can make a lot of this in a day! Maybe make a dozen and you can use the flower spring coaster yourself all during spring or give a half of them as a gift to your dearest one. However, the most important thing is to share with you how I made this Spring Coaster.

Things To Prepared

Basically you will only need three materials to do this super easy coaster with a spring touch. And what are those?

Picture70

How To Make

How to make my DIY Spring Coaster with the flower? Just follow these easy steps and look at the picture above!

  1. Make a circular pattern by using the rope and add glue along the rope. Do it until you get the desired diameter.
  2. Secure the end rope with glue too.
  3. Make a petal pattern by using pink burlap rope. Apply it with glue.
  4. Take the green burlap rope and do a circular pattern on the center of the flower. Don’t forget to use glue.
  5. You can have a more durable coaster by adding a piece of circled fabric under the coaster. Glue it.

Picture72

You can be more creative to make other pattern of Spring. Mine is five petals flower with pink and green, you may try other flowers or other colors. Isn’t it great DIY for Spring? My flower coaster from rope is inexpensive, easy to make and pretty looking. So let’s make lots of it and have some tea party with your friends and family to show of your handmade spring coaster.

DIY Two Sided Coaster – Dad Is My Anchor

I have mentioned on my earlier post Best Things To Celebrate Father’s Day – With Anchor, that I have an ongoing Father’s Day project which involved an anchor. Well, this is it, I made a DIY Two Sided Coaster – Dad Is My Anchor. This diy would be a great idea for Fathers Day gift; not just because it’s handmade but also the meaning of “Dad Is My Anchor” that would melt any Dad’s heart.

Picture91

Anchor (according to dictionary) is “a heavy object attached to a rope or chain and used to moor a vessel to the sea bottom, typically one having a metal shank with a ring at one end for the rope and a pair of curved and/or barbed flukes at the other.” Therefor, an Anchor is a symbol of safety and stability. In relation to that, “Dad Is Your Anchor” have a meaning of your Dad as your safety, someone you would hold on to. I think is a very strong statement, yet sweet and honoring for any Dads out there. And wouldn’t it be great to be used in a coaster as a gift on Father’s Day.

Now, let’s get our hands a bit dirty! Prepare first all the things you need to have for making this DIY Two Sided Coaster – Dad Is My Anchor:

  • Cork Mat
  • Burlap (Stiff type)
  • Glue for wood
  • White acrylic paint
  • Drawing Pen
  • Black brush pen

Picture89

Not many things to prepared to make this easy handmade coaster. Let’s go through the simple steps to do DIY Two Sided Coaster – Dad Is My Anchor:

  1. Cut the cork mat 4 x 4 inches (10 x 10 cm) dimension in square.
  2. Cut the stiff burlap with same dimension as the cork mat.
  3. Glue together the square cork mat and the stiff burlap. Let it dry.
  4. Cut the 4 corners in bevel to give a better look to the coaster.
  5. Draw an anchor with drawing pen on the burlap side and write the words “Dad Is My” on the cork side of the coaster.
  6. Paint the anchor sketch with white acrylic paint. Let it dry.

Finished! You got yourself a two sided coaster with the message “Dad Is My Anchor”. Cork side with “Dad Is My” and burlap side is a painted Anchor. A great way to express your appreciation to your Dad. Plus, a two sided coaster is a unique and functional gift for a Dad. Hope my DIY Two Sided Coaster – Dad Is My Anchor would be a Father’s Day gift inspiration or simply a birthday gift to Dads.
