Easy DIY Christmas Tree Pillow

Easy DIY Christmas Tree Pillow

I made an easy Christmas Pillow with a Christmas tree shape. I don’t sew a lot, but I love playing with fabrics. And this is one is an easy diy, does not need an advance sewing skill.

You need some pillow filling and gray gada clothes and of course some snowflake sequins for the Christmas tree. I love gray gada clothes for its natural roughness and neutral ivory color.

Picture96

The steps are easy to make this diy christmas tree pillow:

  1. Cut the fabric into 2 squares 17.5 inches x 17.5 inches ( 45 cm x 45 cm ).
  2. Sew 3 sides and left one side open for pillow filling ( I used dacron).
  3. Sew it after filling it firmly. Okay, the plain pillow is ready for christmas decoration.
  4. Determine a beginning point for the sequins. I started at around a quarter of the pillow lenght.
  5. Sew a gold snowflake sequin as the christmas tree topper.
  6. Sew one green snowflake sequin for the tree’s first row.
  7. Sew two green snowflake sequins on the next row.
  8. Repeat the steps and add one sequin more to each row, until you reach ninth rows.
  9. Along the first until the ninth row, insert one red snowflakes randomly to act as the christmas tree ornaments.
  10. Tie a christmas red bow and sew it on the bottom of the sequins christmas tree.
  11. There you go, easy diy christmas, right? it’s a christmas pillow with sparking christmas tree sequins.
  12. If you want to get more instant way, buy a white plain pillow and then decorate it. That would be faster.

Upcycling is the best inexpensive way to make valuable decorations. I came out with the idea of using tissue cores and craft it into a Christmas tree garland. And to add more festive look to the garland, I presented it with glittery gold and silver colors.

  • Red glitter glue
  • Little star ornament
  • Glittery ribbon
  • Cotton rope
  • Lolly sticks
  • Drawing pen
  • Scissors
  • Cutter
  • Glue

Picture78

And these are the steps I had to make the glittery garland:

  1. Draw a christmas tree on the tissue core. Cut the Christmas tree until three-quarters.
  2. Fold one side of the tissue core until the pointy tree is on top. Made 3 or more as desired.
  3. Paint the core with white and the tree with gold or silver paint.
  4. Apply some glitter glue; gold, red and green; to each tree.
  5. Add a shimmering little star ornament on top of the tree.
  6. Put all glittery Christmas tree together with cotton rope to form a garland.
  7. Tie some glittery ribbon to the rope.
  8. There you go, the glittery Christmas tree garland is ready to be hung.

DIY Hand Painted Christmas Joy Sign

DIY Hand Painted Christmas Joy Sign

Recently I found it amusing to do it yourself some hand painted signs, especially on this end of the year, there are so many occasion to celebrate. A simple diy sign can really do a great job on your home decor. And after I made Fall Sign, Halloween Sign, Thanksgiving Sign, now it’s time for Christmas Sign! A jolly season that will end the year in joy.

So what did I prepare for my Grateful Thanksgiving sign?

  • Balsa wood plank
  • White spray paint
  • Black acrylic paint
  • White acrylic paint
  • Red acrylic paint
  • Green acrylic paint
  • Gold acrylic paint
  • Silver acrylic paint
  • Paint brush
  • Drawing pen
  • Scissors

Picture73

I hand painted this sign, so not much crafting steps to do, but more to the painting works :

  1. Cut the balsa wood plank in desired dimension, mine was 14.5 inches x 4 inches (36 cm x 10 cm). I choose balsa wood because it’s an easy wood to work with, especially the plank, it’s thin and you can even cut it with scissors.
  2. Spray paint the wooden cutting block with white spray paint. Don’t spray it evenly, so it would leave a rustic look. Leave the edges to be in its wooden color character. Let it dry.
  3. Draw a sketch of the sentiment and the jingle balls plus holy foliage with pencil.
  4. Draw the “Joy” word with drawing pen, it’s a lot easier than painting it.
  5. Paint the red and gold jingle bells with the holy foliage. Let it dry.
  6. Don’t forget to add some shading to the jingle balls.
  7. The Christmas Joy Sign is finished!

Picture74

It is a simple diy sign, I love the word “Joy”, because it reflects Christmas and also reminds me to be joyful all year-long. And the jingle balls feels like the best Christmas touch that makes everything merrier. This hand painted Joy sign is a great decoration to express your joyful feeling to welcome Christmas in coming winter season.

Fall & Thanksgiving Side Table Decor

Fall & Thanksgiving Side Table Decor

Side table is as much important as any table in a home, especially when your side table is on the sitting room where you entertain your guest or on the foyer where you receive the guest. Therefore, to have a remembered thanksgiving dinner party, you should hot forget your side table decor. And moreover, the side table decor for thanksgiving must be aligned with your fall home decor.

I arranged some of my fall and thanksgiving decorations in one white square side table at the foyer where I put the seating tags for thanksgiving dinner. This setting is a mixed of fall colors and a slightly winter colors, since it’s a month of almost seasonal transition. Gold and natural wood colors of fall mixed with shades of blue and white of winter colors. And amazingly it worked well together. This taught me not to scare to mix calm, natural colors with glimmering color like gold for a decor.

Picture72

These are the list of all the decoration items I used for the fall & thanksgiving side table :

Picture70

The first four are the decorations I have posted before on how to make it and the last two was the ones I showed in this post. The crepe wrapped pumpkin is an emergency pumpkin I made from a vase that I wrapped with white crepe paper. And the crepe paper flower was made from white crepe paper that I have applied with gold glitter.

Picture71

So, use whatever you have to decor your side table to celebrate thanksgiving and to get the fall ambience. Just add this and that to complete the look. No need expensive decorations to have a beautiful seasonal decor, so you can have a different look every year without spending much money. Happy fall and thanksgiving!

See you anytime soon!

Thanks to creativity for giving a creation!

DIY Seating Tag Bottles For Thanksgiving Dinner

DIY Seating Tag Bottles For Thanksgiving Dinner

After I finished my grateful thanksgiving sign, I was inspired to make seating tag out of used mini bottles I had. With blue and white colors with natural touch of wood and rope. This upcycling bottles project would be a great functional decoration to complete your lovely thanksgiving dinner party.

What did I prepare for this seating Tag mini bottles :

  • Mini glass bottles (Find any used mini bottles you can get from any drinks)
  • Blue spray paint
  • White Acrylic paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Organic rope
  • Ice sticks
  • Black ink pen
  • Small doily paper
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Picture66

These are steps I took to make the Thanksgiving tag:

  1. Clean the used bottles and dry it thoroughly.
  2. Spray paint the bottles with blue paint. Let it dry.
  3. Paint each bottle with pumpkin on one side and paint the word “Thanks” on the other side by using brush with white paint. Leave it dry. You can always do the easier way with stickers or decoupage to skip the hand painting job.
  4. Tie each bottle with organic rope to give an earthy feeling of fall season. The ribbon is on the “Thanks” side and the name tag on the pumpkin side.
  5. For the name tag, write down the name of your guest on the ice stick with a black ink pen and then cut the ice stick with beveled edges.
  6. Stick the ice stick name tag on the organic rope by the pumpkin side.
  7. Fold the doily paper and shape it into a flower. Slip each doily on top of each bottle.
  8. My seating tag is ready for the thanksgiving party! Easy DIY!

Picture69

It turned out to be one of my favorite upcycling bottles project besides two of my other diy painted bottle projects ( Fall Leaves and Geometric Gold ). I love the color blue meets the white and the natural wood tag with organic rope ribbon; and of course the hand painted “Thanks” and pumpkin. And the amazing thing is, you can use this seating tag bottle as a souvenir to thank your guest too! How? Just fill up the mini bottles with some fine chocolates or sweets or even some potpourri. In that way, you have yourself a seating tag and souvenir in one bottle! Isn’t that great?! Nothing is wasted, but everything is pretty and everyone is happy!

DIY Grateful Thanksgiving Sign

DIY Grateful Thanksgiving Sign

It has been grateful weeks for me. Many good things I received on these last few weeks. And this month is a thanksgiving month, a thankful month. Days ago I just finished a simple Thank You card and on this post I was encouraged to make a diy thanksgiving sign.

It’s a simple painting of blue pumpkin that I painted in vintage style. I love vintage style with shade of blue colors. If you’re not a painter person, just use stamps, printing or decoupage. I used wooden cutting board as the media for the sign, I think it is more relate to the grateful pumpkin sign.

So what did I prepare for my Grateful Thanksgiving sign?

  • Wooden cutting block
  • White spray paint
  • Black acrylic paint
  • White acrylic paint
  • Blue acrylic paint
  • Green acrylic paint
  • Organic rope
  • Paint brush
  • Pencil

Picture62

It’s a painting work I’m afraid. So, the steps to do it are basically painting :

  1. Spray paint the wooden cutting block with white spray paint. Let it dry.
  2. Draw a sketch of the sentiment and the pumpkin, blueberries, leaves, hydrangea with pencil.
  3. Draw the “Grateful” word with black paint, using paint brush. Let it dry.
  4. Paint the blue pumpkin, blueberries, hydrangea and leaves. Let it dry.
  5. Paint the background with light stroke of grey to get a rustic look. Let it dry. I found it easier this way than to sand it.
  6. The Grateful Thanksgiving Sign is finished!

Picture63

The DIY ”Grateful” sign complimented by the blue pumpkin with vintage style and a bit rustic look. It would make a beautiful home decoration for you to hang it on your dinning room so you can always be grateful for all that served in your dinning table. Beautiful way to be reminded. And of course, it is a great accessories to add to your thanksgiving decorations.

Autumn Painting Of Maple Tree

Autumn Painting Of Maple Tree

Inspired by maple trees with the red and gold colors of the autumn season, I painted a maple tree with the swirl of golden-yellow background. I think this painting is more like a modern abstract, if I’m not mistaken because I have never been in an art school. I just paint whatever comes in my mind.

Picture50

I love painting, but I need at least two whole days to finish a simple painting. And two whole days means I ask a lot from my daily routine 🙂 That’s why I don’t do a lot of painting even though there are many ideas and objects that have already taken lines in my mind. So, every time I have a time to paint and able to finish it, I’m very pleased!

Picture52

Actually I have been postponed this autumn painting of maple tree for a month. I was very busy and unable to paint something more complicated. So, this maple tree painting is quite simple and fast in its process.

This was the first time I used acrylic paint on a canvas. I found it a lot easier to use acrylic instead of oil paint because acrylic paint dries faster than oil paint. So, the painting process is a lot faster which was good for my busy days. Just for information, I used acrylic colors of Vermilion, Yellow Ochre, lemon yellow, gold, titanium white, crimson, burnt umber.

Picture53

I have now a need addition to my autumn decoration and painting collections. I hope all of you who drop by to peak and read my post enjoys this Autumn Painting Of Maple Tree. May you be inspired too by this golden-yellow and red maple tree painting  of autumn season spirit and create something in your own creations.

See you soon!

Creative Autumn Spirit!

Easy DIY Halloween Wreath – Trick Or Treat

Easy DIY Halloween Wreath – Trick Or Treat

For this Halloween diy decorations, I have made Halloween souvenir boxes-spook boo eek, Halloween coasters, Halloween pumpkins sign, and on this post I made Halloween Wreath – trick or treat. It’s super easy!

I made this easy wreath less than an hour. And I only used things that I have already had, some are from my craft or party supplies; and some are from re-used things. I managed to have the colors in dominant orange and black, as I consider it really goes well together and of course because that’s the most available colors I have on my supplies 😀

Let see what are the things that I collected together to form this Halloween wreath :

  • Orange crepe paper (I bought this like a week ago; I was sure that I was going to use it somehow on my Halloween projects)
  • Paper plate 9 inches – polka-dots (from my party supplies)
  • Paper plate 5 inches – gold (from my party supplies)
  • Black paper (from my craft supplies)
  • Checkerboard ribbon (from my kid’s party supplies)
  • Orange-green pattern paper (re-using paper wrap from a gift I received)
  • glue
  • white gel pen
  • Wave edge craft scissors

Picture47

How to do?

  1. Cut orange crepe paper around 3 inches (7 cm) and fold it while you glue it to the edge of the big paper plate in circle evenly.
  2. Cut the gift wrap paper in the same length and fold it, then glue it to the big paper plate too, with around 1.5 inches apart from the crepe paper.
  3. Cut orange crepe paper again around 3 inches (7 cm) and fold it while you glue it to the edge of the big paper plate in circle evenly. Give around 1.5 inches distance.
  4. Cut and fold the checkerboard ribbon, then glue it one by one around the crepe paper.
  5. Cut the wavy pattern of the black paper in circle and glue it to the paper plate to close the ribbon’s edges.
  6. glue the gold paper plate in the middle.
  7. Cut another black paper in circle with the diameter of the inner gold plate with wave edge craft scissors.
  8. Write the “Trick or Treat” in the middle of the circle black paper by using white gel pen in a pretty way.
  9. Then glue the written black paper to the gold paper plate.
  10. Add a hanger from checkerboard ribbon on the back of the big paper plate (wreath).
  11. Hang the Halloween wreath on your front door or by the mantle, finished!

Picture48

Easy and pretty! Your Halloween just got more spice to it with another halloween decoration, a halloween wreath! You can also hang it on the table of treats, as the wreath says “trick or treat”. Hope you are inspired by my halloween creations.

DIY Pumpkins Halloween Sign – Trick Or Treat

DIY Pumpkins Halloween Sign – Trick Or Treat

Halloween decor would not be perfect without the halloween sign. Therefor, I came across the idea to use ice sticks again as the sign board like I did last time with DIY Fall (in love) Sign. I love the texture that created from the row of the popsicle sticks. I looks great with spray paint, especially white as a sign board base. For the design of the halloween sign, I drew some pumpkins in black, white and orange with the halloween signature sentiment, which is “trick or treat”.

It’s a simple project that only used a little skill of painting, but you can always trick the painting part by using stamps, printing and decoupage. The key to great picture plus sentiment sign board is the sentiment itself and how to present it, the colors, and the interesting object / picture that we want to exposed. Choose the style, the colors, the sentiment and the picture, then you are good to go.

So what did I prepare for my trick or treat pumpkins halloween sign?

  • Ice sticks
  • Glue
  • White spray paint
  • Black acrylic paint
  • White acrylic paint
  • Orange acrylic paint
  • Paint brush
  • Pencil

Picture43

It’s mostly a painting job I should say. So, the steps to do it are basically painting, except for the sign board base;

  1. Line up the ice sticks vertically with the length of around 3 x one ice stick length.
  2. Glue some structure ice sticks to the ice sticks – row in horizontal like making a fence. Let it dry.
  3. Spray paint the ice sticks blank sign with white spray paint. Let it dry.
  4. Draw a sketch of the sentiment and the three pumpkins with pencil.
  5. Paint the first bottom pumpkin with black, then the second with orange and the third with white and some silly pumpkin face. Add some shading to elevate the pumpkins’ look. Don’t forget the leaves.
  6. Paint the sentiment “Trick or Treat” with black acrylic paint. Let it dry.
  7. The Halloween Pumpkins Sign with the wording of Trick or Treat is finished!

DIY EGGSHELL EASTER CARD – Cheap and Easy

When you think of easter, you straight away will think of egg! Then I think to myself, hey why don’t I make a card from a real egg, but of course I couldn’t stick a whole egg to card. So, I reconstructed the egg to a card by using the eggshell to shape an egg that I can stick it to a card.

DIY Eggshell Easter Card – Cheap and Easy

Try to make a special easter card for your loved ones? Well, you might get inspired by my diy eggshell easter card. When you think of easter, you straight away will think of egg! Then I think to myself, hey why don’t I make a card from a real egg, but of course I couldn’t stick a whole egg to a card. So, I reconstructed the egg to a card by using the eggshell to shape an egg. Cheap and easy!

I dedicated this diy easter card to my kid and I wanted to be blue. Since I preferred the egg to be 100% natural egg and no coloring, so I use duck egg which is naturally blue (Tosca, actually). And I mixed it with chicken egg, to looked better, which was happened to be ivory. Luckily, I got all the eggs from my fridge, so after I consumed it, I kept the eggshell, then washed it and dried it carefully. All materials I used were from my crafting collection, i don’t buy it in purpose. It’s a cheap and easy diy project. So, feel free to use anything you got to re-make my diy eggshell easter card.

Here are all the things I used for this diy eggshell easter card project:

  1. cutter
  2. UHU adhesive
  3. scissors
  4. pencil
  5. drawing pen
  6. paper glue stick
  7. blue and polka dot ribbon
  8. chicken eggshell
  9. duck eggshell
  10. doily paper
  11. blue paper
  12. thin paper board

How to do my cheap and easy diy eggshell easter card?

  1. Cut the blue paper with proportion to the doily paper.
  2. Cut thin paper board to give thickness to the blue paper. Stick them together.
  3. Stick the doily paper to the thickened blue paper. Your basic card is now ready.
  4. Cut a paper board with the shape of an egg (you can draw it first with pencil). Watch the proportion, because you need to leave a space for the wording on top.
  5. Set a pattern mixed of chicken eggshell with duck eggshell that you desired.
  6. Take the washed and dried eggshell and break it into big pieces. Spread some glue on the area of the paper board that you wanna glue. Then put an eggshell piece on top of the glued area and press it gently. Do it all over the egg-shaped paper board and fill up the empty area that left until it looks even. It doesn’t have to look perfectly even, that what makes it look beautiful.
  7. Stick the finished eggshell paper board to the basic card.
  8. Write the wording on top of the eggshell by using drawing pen but leave some space for the ribbons.
  9. Tie some ribbons nicely and stick it to the eggshell by using UHU. There you go, you got yourself a cheap and easy diy eggshell easter card.

For the dimensions, it’s all up to you to make, just make sure you got a good proportion.

2. Flowers

Say it with flowers! Well, it always works for me. So, unlike roses, give something non-traditional like exotic orchid that last longer and even a hundred years if you give the plant. Pick a pinkish orchid plant and a pink gold pot just like in the picture below. All together with that great arrangement it’s surely mind blowing. But again, it’s still look simple but gorgeous.
