DIY Upcycling Plastic Jar Into Cute Holder

DIY Spring Sign For Wall Decor

I had kept a defective wooden sign I bought in sale at Daiso for quite a time. I was planning to use it as a sign, but give it a totally different look. Since the old sign has already have a burlap rope as the hanger, it became easier for me to only transform the look. Since the Spring is still linger, I made a DIY Spring Sign that would look great for Wall Decor or just as a mantel decor.

I painted a bouquet of aster tied in a simple rope. I love to see some aster hanging on my wall; it calms me. It looks so serene with its lavender color, no wonder aster means patience; but some others said it is a flower of love and wisdom. It’s a simple humble looking flower with its own beauty. And it’s a symbol flower of September. However, I painted the aster with acrylic paint. Let’s find out how I make this simple DIY with a little painting job involved.

Picture15

Things To Prepare

It’s a make over project actually, because I turned a flawed sign into a new painted Spring sign. And here is the list of the supplies I used for this Spring sign DIY.

  •  Defective wooden sign (an old sign would do too)
  • White spray paint
  • Acrylic paints (white, yellow, blue, green and red)
  • Black marker

Picture13

How To Make

It’s mostly a painting job and you can replace the painting part by doing a decoupage. Anyway, let me show you the steps I made when I was making this DIY Spring Sign.

  1. I spray painted the half-price sign in white and wait for it to dry.
  2. Mix the paint to get the desired colors.
  3. I started to paint the petals of each aster blossom first and then added the yellow stamen.
  4. I painted the flower stalks, leaves and finish it off with a simple red string tied in bow.
  5. And last but not least, write the word “Spring” on the bottom of the aster black marker. Finished!

Picture14

It’s an easy spring sign to make for those who familiar with painting works. It’s just a simple painting of aster to mark a very calm spring. So, I hope you enjoy my DIY Spring Sign For Wall Decor and maybe inspired to make your own version. Have a fun creative spring sign project to do!

How To Make Tin Can Mini Spring Flower Cart

Flower cart is always a wonderful thing to see, especially a vintage look flower cart. Moreover if the cart filled with beautiful spring flowers, that would be a magical sight to watch. Since I don’t have any material to build a full size flower cart; I ended up making a Mini Spring Flower Cart from upcycling a square tin can. I had this idea circling around my mind for months and finally I get a time to finish it.

Picture7

I made the Tin Can Mini Spring Flower Cart with trouble finding perfect things to create the cart handles and the wheels, because I insist to use things that physically resemble a handle and a wheel without changing it a bit. And also cheap and easy things to find. And luckily I found those things in a mini home depot; well, actually the bolt and nut is a pair that my husband always have; so the ring bolt that I found is the main treasure. I choose it because it’s looking very simple, just simply round. Okay, enough about my idealism, let’s start with how to make my flower cart!

Picture4

Things To Prepared

  • Tin can in square shape
  • Bolt and nut (two pairs) / any shapes that looks like a pair of cart handle can be used
  • Ring bolt, any ring shape will do
  • White acrylic paint
  • Blue acrylic paint
  • Black marker
  • Glue

Picture2

How To Make

  1. Clean the square tin can and paint it with white acrylic paint.
  2. Have the bolt + nut that will serve as the cart handle and the ring bolt as the cart wheels, sprayed in blue acrylic paint
  3. Drill a hole to insert the bolt, ended with nut and secure it with glue so it won’t move. Make a pair of it to get the cart handle.
  4. Glue the blue ring bolt to both of the side front of the flower cart.
  5. Prepare a beautiful hand writing of “Spring Flowers” and write it on the both sides of the tin can spring flower cart by using a black marker.
  6. Now your mini spring flower cart from upcycled tin can is ready to be added with lovely mini flowers. I used yellow and white Rose Moss.

Tips : You can use other mini flowers you like. The spring flower cart would look great with artificial flowers or as succulent mini pot holder too.

Interested to do a little crafty upcycling project? My Mini Spring Flower Cart from tin can would be a wonderful idea to try. Add more of your handmade spring decorations to your home. Or maybe as a DIY Mother’s Day Gift for your mom. Enjoy picking flowers you love for the mini flower  cart, enjoy the spring bloom!

How To Make Mother’s Day Card From Scrap Fabric

Mother’s Day is near and  some of you may have prepared a lovely gift to your mom. If you haven’t prepare any gift to your beloved mom, but have been thinking of making a DIY present to give your mom on Mother’s Day; then you can check out my idea of DIY Mother’s Day gift. However, those with special gift in hand ready for your mom, you can get the inspiration of my easy Mother’s Day Card From Scrap Fabric. Like always, I share with you the tutorial on how to make the diy scrap fabric card.

Picture142

I made this very easy card by adding a fabric flower as the focal point of the Mother’s day card. I chose flower because I guess almost all moms love flowers, I know my mom does. And I finished it of  with simple sentiment; Happy Mother’s Day. This Mother’s Day card project is easy to make not just because it takes easy steps to make, but also easy supplies to find at home. I used the hardboard card from the old table calendar as a material for the card. So, basically the two main ingredients are recycling things. How do I make it possible? Check out below tutorial!

Things To Prepared

Take a look at your scrap fabric stash at home and find some pretty soft fabrics that would look great as fabric flower, then you are good to go. Very common things to be re-used to prepare this Mother’s Day Gifts best friend; a Mother’s Day Card.

  • Thick cardboard of the table calendar stand
  • Fabric scrap ( I chose pink shade with flowery pattern and a soft fabric )
  • White marker
  • UHU Glue

Picture140

How To Make

As simple as the supplies, the making of this Mother’s Day Card From Scrap Fabric is also very simple. It’s a no sew fabric project so this Mother’s Day Card for Mother’s Day is a super easy DIY. Your would only need glue to do this fabric card! Anyway, let me share how I make this scrap fabric mother’s Day card.

  1. Take an old table calendar and cut off the cardboard stand. I used a 5.5 x 8 inches cardboard as the card. My card is in black color which I think it’s a good contrast to the fabric flower.
  2. My fabric came from a sleeve of an old dress I’ve upcycled. So I cut the fabric in ring connected ribbon. Cut the scrap fabric into 4 different widths from the biggest to the smallest. It’s around 2.1 inches width to the smallest around 1 inch. I didn’t measure it when I cut it, I just used my proportion instinct.
  3. Apply some glue on the middle above card and glue the fabric into a wavy circle. do the same until the four fabric ribbon glued together. Remember to start from the biggest width fabric to the smallest. Let it dry.
  4. Now it’s time for the writing job. Write “Happy Mother’s Day” below the fabric flower on the card by using white marker. Let it dry.
  5. And you can write anything you’d like at the back of the Mother’s Day card.

Picture143

Tips : The card should contrast the fabric flower, so if the card is dark, use a light color fabric. And if your card is light color, use dark fabric. For black and white card, you can use any contrast color, but for other colors card, you should choose a same shade of the card and the fabric to get a best result. For example, dark blue card with a light blue fabric. Another thing is, you can substitute the scrap fabric with ribbon if you don’t have any scrap fabric.

A beautiful gift for your wonderful mom would be an unforgettable day to your mom if you pair it with an handmade Mother’s Day card. Very personal, loving gesture to be translated into this Mother’s Day Card From Scrap Fabric. Want to try? Good luck and add some creativity to it!
