DIY Artwork – Truck Drawing for Kid’s Room

DIY Artwork – Truck Drawing for Kid’s Room

Hello everyone! Finally I finished my whole drawings of VW 1967 Bug Truck in red color. On my previous post (Truck Sketches for Kid’s Playroom), I have done 2 smaller drawings, which were front view and side view of the VW bug truck. For completing the artwork for my kid’s room, I drew the bigger view of the red truck plus the artsy wording of the truck’s name.

Picture67

I haven’t decide it yet on where to hang the artwork of the truck drawing. So, I just put it in the table on my kid’s room. I used a white simple frame; well, actually that’s the only available frame I have that fits the size of the truck drawing. And I don’t have the bigger frame either.

Picture68

I sketched it with pencil then I colored it with watercolor pencils. I don’t use too many colors, mostly red, blue and black. I want the VW ’67 Bug Truck to be the spotlight of the drawing, that is why I have them in red.

Picture69

My husband loves it, my son said “it’s beautiful, mommy!” , so it’s more than enough to me, it is well paid-off after spending times coloring the truck drawings. And I love to see it in my kid’s room. It’s screams for Boys!

Picture70

Well, I hope you all enjoy my artwork of VW 1967 bug truck for kid’s room. Or even more, got inspired! It can also a great artwork for Father’s Day gift which has passed.

See you!

DIY Upcycle Frying Pan Into Shabby Wall Decoration

DIY Up-cycle Frying Pan Into Shabby Wall Decoration

Yes, this month I have more up-cycle, re-purposing projects than usual. But every month I will always share my creation on up-cycle or re-purposing project. This time, it came from my “junk” collection which mostly comes from my kitchen. Yup, that is because I cook a lot. And the kitchen junk is frying pan! I used lots of fry pan in different sizes. This one is the medium one, 18 cm. I can’t use it anymore because the non-stick layer is scratched a lot.

On this project, I made a wall decoration with wording plus a key hanger out of a frying pan. I always prefer a decoration with a function, so it is more than just a decoration but also functional. The wording is “My Lovely Lucky Home”. and the style I wanted was a shabby look, so I used light blue and white.

So, these are what I need to make the frying pan into a shabby wall decoration:

  • Un-used frying pan
  • Blue spray paint
  • White acrylic paint
  • A small paint brush
  • A hook
  • A hanger (I made from key chain)
  • Glue
  • Some organic rope

Picture60

How to up-cycle the frying pan into a shabby wall decoration with the wording and key hanger?

  1. Take off the handle of the frying pan.
  2. Clean the entire surface, back and front of the frying pan thoroughly. Make sure it’s clean and not greasy.
  3. Spray paint the pan both sides with light blue paint. Start from the back first, let it dry then follow with the front pan and let it dry.
  4. Connect a hook into the bolt-hole (the one exist from the handle) until it tight.
  5. Cover the handler connector by wrapping it around with the organic rope and glue it.
  6. Glue the hanger into the upper back of the pan. Let it dry.
  7. Paint the wording with white acrylic paint by using a small brush. Let it dry.
  8. Paint circling around the front pan with white acrylic to give a white frame to the pan. Let it dry.
  9. Hang it on the wall by your foyer. Finished! You got yourself a shabby wall decoration with key hanger and a wording from a broken frying pan.

Picture61

As usual, it is very easy diy by up-cycling something from your kitchen into something prettier and useful. Well, maybe need a little patience with painting the wording part. But not just cheap and help saving environment, you also got yourself a beautiful diy new home decoration with function. This is one of a creative example of diy up-cycle frying pan, which I made into a simple shabby wall decoration with wording and key holder.

Picture62

Again, don’t just throw away things, even though you have all the money in the world, think of something creative you can do with the “junk” and turn it into something better in use and in appearance by your hands.

DIY Topiary From Coconut Coir

DIY Topiary From Coconut Coir

On my previous post, I have shown you how to re-purposing a cooker pot into a flower-pot. Since I made the flower-pot for decoration purposes, so I have to fill it with some decoration to complete its look. And I want to make the decoration from recycling something.

Picture58

I thought to myself that a green topiary would be great for the flower-pot. Give it a purpose. But what should I made it from? I can easily buy some fake petals or synthetic leaves, but what is the fun of it? I have to make the topiary from something unusual but easily found, free, and easy. I need something durable to give some roughness on the topiary surface, a texture. Then I straight away think of coconut coir. And it’s cheap, well in my case it’s considered free. Because I bought the young coconut for consumption, enjoyed the sweet coconut flesh and water, then save the coconut coir to be dried under the sun.

So, what do I need to make a coconut coir topiary?

  • A young coconut coir
  • A wooden stick
  • A styrofoam ball
  • Green spray paint
  • Glue
  • Cardboard protector
  • A flower-pot
  • Ribbons

Picture55

How to make the coconut coir topiary?

  1. Dried the young coconut shell (under the intense sun) for couple of days, then shred the coconut coir, if it’s not completely dry, dry it again for a day or until it is perfectly dry.
  2. Glue the shredded coconut coir onto the styrofoam ball until entire surface are covered nicely.
  3. Wrap the coconut coir ball with plastic wrapper tightly to have the coconut coir glued evenly and perfectly into the styrofoam. Let it sit for half day before unwrap it.
  4. Spray paint the coconut coir topiary  with green spray paint.
  5. Do the same to the cardboard protector.
  6. Let it sit for a half day just to be safe.
  7. Fill the flower-pot with the painted cardboard protector. Then arrange it until tight as a good base and fluffy until it rise up a bit from the flower-pot.
  8. Connect the wooden stick to the styrofoam ball and to the cardboard protector base until it secure.
  9. Tie some beautiful ribbons with the color that you favor to the wooden stick, right under the topiary. I chose neutral colors since I made this simple green topiary, so I used yellow and ivory ribbons. Finished!
  10. You can use the topiary as an element to your home decor or party decor; can be as a center piece, a table or shelve decoration. It is suitable for spring or summer theme decor.

Picture56

So, this is an easy and cheap project that anyone can do. The recycled flower-pot and the topiary from coconut coir, the topiary base from cardboard protector; together as a recycled decoration that cost you less. A Diy home decoration that comes from re-purposing three things.

Picture57

Well guys, enough for today, I need time to explore my thoughts with more ideas to come out with new creations to share with you.

Picture59

Note : I submit this project to Everybody Art Challenge (Pimp it – recycle), That’s Crafty (A Summer’s Day), Make My Monday (Go Green – up-cycle), Crafty Gals Corner (Summer colours), International Art And Soul (Nothing square or oblong), Altered Eclectics (Anything Goes)

DIY Re-Purposing Cooker Pot into A Flower Pot

DIY Re-Purposing Cooker Pot into A Flower Pot

Some say a hoarder, to me is a keeper. I tend not to throw damaged or old stuff away that easily, especially when I can see the potential re-purposing right away, I will keep it until I got the time and mood to make something new and pretty out of it. Even when I haven’t got any picture of what to do with it, I will still keep it, especially when it is made of glass, metal, timber or something that is so pretty (like pretty wrapping or pretty boxes). Hmm, hoarders huh?

Therefor, today post is about re-purposing old cooker pot that I have been keeping for couple of months. I can not use the cooker pot no longer due to the scratches on the teflon layer, but I can’t just throw it away. It’s a mini cooker pot, how cute it is. So, I thought to myself, hmm, why don’t I just make this cooker pot into a flower-pot. Both are pot shape. A vintage style, white…, with the black wording…, sounds like a good idea and great for environment.

Picture52

What do I need to make this flower-pot out of an old cooker pot?

  • Spray paint – white color
  • Acrylic paint – black color
  • paint brush
  • paper tape
  • pencil

How to turn the cooker pot into a vintage flower-pot?

  1. Make sure the cooker pot is cleaned properly and dry. Put some tape and paper or anything to cover the mouth and the inner pot to protect it from paint.
  2. Spray paint the whole outer area in a faced-down position, so you would be able to spray it evenly to entire surface.
  3. Let it dry for a day to be safe.
  4. Make a sketch of the wording by using a pencil to the painted cooker pot.
  5. Paint the wording with acrylic paint carefully.
  6. Let it dry for  couple of hours, just to be safe.
  7. Finished! You got yourself a beautiful flower-pot.

Picture53

By the way, I’m going to use the flower-pot as a decoration only. So if you wanted to use it for a real flower pot, you need to drill some holes on the bottom of the pot, and do it before you spray paint it.

Isn’t that easy? Cheap and minimal effort to get a beautiful vintage look flower-pot, just by re-purposing your unused cooker pot. I love the look!

Picture54

Well, considering tomorrow, June 5, is The World Environment Day, I hope my flower-pot is able to inspire you all to re-use or re-purposing anything old or damaged into something new and beautiful. Please don’t just throw away things, if you unable to create something out of it, you may want to give it to someone you know that is best for re-purposing junk. Like people say, someone’s trash is another one’s treasure!

I can’t wait to think and make something from a junk to complete the look of this flower-pot. So, be patience and wait for my next post, I may come up with great ideas!

Note: I entered this project to That’s crafty (Monochromatic), Love To Craft (Anything goes), Everybody Art Challenge (Pimp it! Recycle) and Make My Monday (Go green – Up-cycle).

See you on my next re-purposing post and Happy Environment Day!

Decor Your Photo Frames With New Fancy Look – DIY

Decor Your Photo Frames With New Fancy Look – DIY

I’ve been wanting to frame the picture of my mom and my son together and planned it to give her on mother’s day. first, I just buy some white minimalist frame for the picture. but then… I keep thinking that it’s a plain boring frame. so I decided to make it fancier by adding some beads to the frame. I used a golden look on the beads to match the background picture, which is gold.

Picture42

I was only stick the beads one layer around the inner frame because I don’t want to over shadow the picture. If it’s a close up picture, then I will cover the entire frame with the beads.

Picture41

So, there you go, a fancy sparkle photo frame.

Picture40

Then I get so excited so I decor an old dark blue photo frame with sparkle beads to. I choose the bluish sparkle beads with shape of flower to match the frame color.

Look at the transformation, from an old dark photo frame into a sparkling fancy photo frame!

Picture43

You can try other beads or decorations to give a new fancy look to your boring photo frame. Give a new life! And maybe it could be a great idea for a gift on Mother’s Day which is coming soon. With a little effort, you have given a meaning and personal touch to the photo frame which will elevate the memory captured in the photo that you’ve chosen as the gift.

Picture44

Okay, got to go… see ya!

DIY Re-Purposing Tissue Cores Into 6 Matches Stylish Party Decorations (Final) – Seating Tag and Napkin Ring

DIY Re-Purposing Tissue Cores Into 6 Matches Stylish Party Decorations (Final) – Seating Tag and Napkin Ring

This is the final post of DIY re-purposing tissue cores into another 6 matches stylish party decorations. After 2 earlier posts, first was the Souvenir Box and Flower Vase, the second one was Paper Tissue and Straw Holder; now the final two matches stylish party decorations are:

  1. Seating Tag

For the seating tag, I used paper doily for the name writings media and I cut the tissue core about 45 degree in half. For these two decorations, you need some cutting, so prepare yourself with cutter.

Picture16

     2. Napkin Ring

Average toilet tissue core can be divided into 3 napkin rings, so cut the cores into 3 even sections. Then decor it wisely, since it is such a small item but you still need it to accentuate your napkin, especially on a white plain napkin.

Picture17

Again, all I need for this project are only:

1. tissue cores (any sizes will do)

I used 2 types of tissue cores, the one from toilet roll tissue and kitchen towel.

2. paper wrapped (choose the one that will be your color theme and or pattern theme)

I used greenish-yellow and green stripe which I think it’s very simple but speaks a lot.

3. ribbons (choose color that matches the paper wrap but not exactly the same color)

I used light yellow to matched.

4. ribbon flower ornaments ( you can get more color on this but still have to compliment your theme color.

I used pink rose (as an accent) with green leaves (to match the color theme) ribbon ornament.

5. laces

I used small white laces to have it looked more chic.

6. paper doily

Great media for writings and decoration.

For this project you need cutter besides scissors, glue and drawing pen to execute it.

The green and yellow with pink accent is definitely spread the spring colors into the whole party. If you don’t use too many different ornament and decorations, maybe only 5 or 6 items you will stick to the matching theme for the whole party decorations you’ve made.

Picture18

So all the 6 matches stylish party decorations from tissue cores are

  1. Souvenir Box
  2. Flower Vase
  3. Napkin Tissue Holder
  4. Straw Holder
  5. Seating Tag
  6. Napkin Ring

Picture19

Well, don’t you find it easy and cheap to accomplish the 6 matches stylish party decorations from tissue cores? Indeed! And green too! So, instead of throwing your tissue cores to the trash bin, let’s try my project with your own personal style. I’m sure your guests will be pleased to be welcome with all handmade personal party decorations, they would think that you put lots of efforts to it, even though it doesn’t cost you that much money and trouble, just creativity!

Note: I just found out about this amazing site, Country View Challenge, where the April’s challenge happens to be “Pimp it up! (reuse or alter something)”. So I hope my post here still eligible for the challenge.

I also entered another challenge : Love To Craft Challenge – May Anything Goes & Allsorts Challenge Blog.

Before you start with the real meal, you may want to entertain your guest with snacks, for that you will need paper napkin for convenience. Then you need paper napkin holder. Well, why don’t you make the matching paper napkin holder too! This one is so easy, you just press one side of the tissue core,  cut both edges in bevel and decorate it.

Picture12

     2. Straw Holder

Snack time will surely need some refreshing drinks, but to be stylish, you need stylish straw too. And… you gonna need straw holder. Let’s just go match it all with the theme and make use of the tissue core as the straw holder. This one is the easy one, after I’ve decorated it, I covered the bottom with doily paper so the straws will secured even though it’s being moved.

Picture13

Like I have mentioned on my earlier post on DIY Re-Purposing Tissue Cores Into 6 Matches Stylish Party Decorations (1) – Souvenir Box and Flower Vase; all I need for this project are only:

  1. tissue cores (any sizes will do)

I used 2 types of tissue cores, the one from toilet roll tissue and kitchen towel.

I love ribbons and laces, that is why I used a lot of those on my ring pillows. Somehow, to me, it makes the ring pillow look more elegant. But I use it wisely to keep it simple.

There are 3 colors theme, baby pink, serene blue and black & white.

This baby pink ring pillow is very simple and easy to do. It looks so sweet.

I named this ring pillow serene blue because it looks so serene and elegant. It is simple yet sophisticated.

This black & white ring pillow is very beautiful because of the fabric itself that has the roses pattern. I really love it. I only had a small piece of the fabric and I straight away sewed it into a ring pillow.

Again, I like everything in simple but elegant. What about you? Which one is your favorite? Will you make your DIY ring pillow for you or as a wedding gift to your loved one?

Be all creative!

See you all!

I dedicated this diy easter card to my kid and I wanted to be blue. Since I preferred the egg to be 100% natural egg and no coloring, so I use duck egg which is naturally blue (Tosca, actually). And I mixed it with chicken egg, to looked better, which was happened to be ivory. Luckily, I got all the eggs from my fridge, so after I consumed it, I kept the eggshell, then washed it and dried it carefully. How to do my cheap and easy diy eggshell easter card?

  1. Cut the blue paper with proportion to the doily paper.
  2. Cut thin paper board to give thickness to the blue paper. Stick them together.
  3. Stick the doily paper to the thickened blue paper. Your basic card is now ready.
  4. Cut a paper board with the shape of an egg (you can draw it first with pencil). Watch the proportion, because you need to leave a space for the wording on top.
  5. Set a pattern mixed of chicken eggshell with duck eggshell that you desired.
  6. Take the washed and dried eggshell and break it into big pieces. Spread some glue on the area of the paper board that you wanna glue. Then put an eggshell piece on top of the glued area and press it gently. Do it all over the egg-shaped paper board and fill up the empty area that left until it looks even. It doesn’t have to look perfectly even, that what makes it look beautiful.
  7. Stick the finished eggshell paper board to the basic card.
  8. Write the wording on top of the eggshell by using drawing pen but leave some space for the ribbons.
  9. Tie some ribbons nicely and stick it to the eggshell by using UHU. There you go, you got yourself a cheap and easy diy eggshell easter card.

For the dimensions, it’s all up to you to make, just make sure you got a good proportion.
